Plenty of good puns about the guys name but I'm told that he made his debut for Germinal Beerschot on Tuesday evening and scored.

can someone tells us a bit about this guy ?

I take it he is someone who doesn't qualify for a UK passport, but can get a gig in Belgium ?

He is a young player we signed from Asec ( a club we have a partnership in the Ivory Coast) and that we've have loaned to Germinal Beerschot (a club we have a partnership with in Belgium)

Rules on work permits etc are different in Belgium so he can get experience and eligibility to play in the UK while there.

More details and links via wikapedia but all you need to know that he is a future Charlton great is his birthday - 5th December!

If his birthday is 5th December......then he's already a Charlton legend!

PS: Can't we play all our fixtures on 5th December. It's the one date we're guaranteed to win.......

If they are not an international regular, you have to show that they are players of the quality not readily available in the UK.

That is much more likely with their acquisitions than ours.

Was at L'Orient (in France not Leyton) so figures but why no mention anywhere else?

He has been playing for Lorient in the French League - top flight.

He suffered a bad ligament injury last year and the French press are reporting he is indeed coming back to us, his parent club, as we signed him as a kid years ago from the Ivory Coast, due the fact he is out of action.

Whether he is working his way back to fitness right now who knows.

If we have utilised a recall or have had to take him back as we have no choice, again, who knows....

From the French First Division to the English Third Division. C'est la vie.

He probably has finally got his work permit here and Parky has decided to bring him in to help with the numbers in defense
  • I should also have said the French press claimed Lorient decided not to persevere with his loan (I presume) due to his injury problem.

But again I'm not sure how bad it is/was. Report claims he is looking to stake a claim internationally in due course so it might not be bleak....

Isn't the Google translation service brilliant? It helped me get this piece of information which, I am sure everyone will agree, helps clarify matters perfectly:

Bakary Soro (Lorient) returns to Charlton Athletic (England). Arrived at the end of the loan, wants international Espoirs ivoirien bounce in England and integrate A for CAN and World Cup 2010.

I think it's time for an open letter demanding clarification from the club on the Soro Bakary issue...

If Fortune and Semedo are approaching fitness we need somebody to take up residence in the Garry Poole physio suite.

It wouldn't be Charlton if we didn't have at least one permanently injured player!

    Confirmed on the OS

Well, Lorient's OS. Assuming r.p. means return or similar. It says "Bakary Soro (r.p. Charlton Athletic)"

Think it was a typo mistake me old mate.

They left the 'i' out of the middle.

Was meant to read 'R.I.P. Charlton Athletic'.

that's the first thing i thought Sailor !

So the ASEC collaboration is finally paying off. The decent players like Gohi Bi don't come to us as intended as they cash in elsewhere, while we get lumbered with the injured cast offs that they can't get money for !!

Possibly, he's played in Belgium and France for two and half seasons now (well, injured for the last 6 months or so).

Knowing our luck though he won't.

I guessed that r.p meant repris par (take back by) but it can't mean that because some of their new players (arrivees) have got it by their name too. But it definitely say he has left Lorient(departs)
