My view, they have said to Bailey, if you stay (for the time being) we will make you captain, and if he does go he can use that as a bargaining tool with another club, ie. "I was captain at Charlton, my wages should reflect that" etc etc

    :)
  • So being captain of Charlton would in some way compensate Nicky for refusing to double his wages elsewhere ???? I think not.

We dont know that anyone has bid for him officially, I just believe its a sweetener from the club.

    >>“If someone had ssaid to him two or three years ago when he was at Barnet that he would now be the captain of Charlton then he probably wouldn’t have believed it.” <<

Nor would he believe that we would be in the third division
  • Well deserved and the right choice, lead by example, he doesnt pull out of challanges and is always up for the fight, if some of the players would have taken a leaf out of his book maybe we would have had a different fixture on Saturday

    was thinking the same thing.

Anyone (soundas) know where Bailey lives.

My son said he saw him in Whitehall gardens near Chatterton Rd in Bromley playing with, presumably, his young son but he might have been totally wrong
  • Lives in Forest Hill, comes from Worcester Park area in Surrey

He doesn't live in Forest Hill......he just stayed there with his in-laws (who strangely enough have the same surname) for a few weeks in their pub after he left Sarfend whilst looking for a more permanent place....all I can say is he lives in the Borough of Bromley...though obviously I wouldn't say where exactly.
  • His "in-laws" live in Forest Hill/Sydenham.....He lives over Bromley/Bickley way.

Sounds like Parky's addressed another big problem we had last season - not enough leaders in key areas. We now have a captain in midfield (Bailey), an ex-captain at right back (Richardson) and an ex-captain at centre back (Daily). And, potentially a few future captains too (Elliot? Shelvey? Solly?)

Was unsure about Bailey, wondered if he wanted out (the relegation clause in his contract has been mentioned), and I can't believe other clubs have not been interested in a busy midfielder who will get you a dozen goals in a season, I presume he is either holding on for a good offer, or happy with the Charlton job.
Some have mentioned that pre-season he seemed a bit disinterested, I expect him to have taken the armband in good faith and with pride, and be the last player to give up, even when 0-4 down. If Bailey shows no inclination to do more than call the kick off, and choose ends I would say it's a big mistake to have him as captain.
I shall start with the assumption that bailey is happy with the Charlton accolade, and look for evidence for confirmation.
