Summer Transfer Rumours - Deadline Day p446
Comments

This doesn't make sense when you think about it. We aren't stabilising, because at the end of the summer, the squad will be totally unstable. We'll need to sign a new squad basically, and we'll be starting the season weak again, dropping points as we scramble to complete transfers up until the window shuts, and then we'll be trying to get the players we have signed up to fitness, which will take even more time.thai malaysia addick said:
Businesses don’t change overnight. Football clubs are different but not entirely different. If this season is about stabilising and then getting promoted next year, that’s probably as good as it gets. I’m not saying that’s the plan, but it’s the only credible one.Chunes said:
Yes and that is a key point. Below are the senior players who will still be in contract next summer.moutuakilla said:We aren't building a squad either as we have players like CBT and Dobson, who are out of contract next year.

We'll be playing youth players until the end of August again - and the cycle continues.
To stabilise, we have to get out of this cycle.6 -
Edit - Louie didn’t sign in time.LargeAddick said:

That's the issue
A bunch of unproven, inexperienced young players will not enable our own unproven, inexperienced young players to force our way into the Top 6.
That's the issue. Oh, plus we've spent about 25p and a packet of polos.....

I am within my rights to point out the bleeding obvious. You may be happy with getting worse season on season.
We were promised money would be spent. Boasts of "Billionaires" and a desire that CAFC only makes sense in the upper half of the Championship.
Do you think ANY of their actions add up to supporting their claims currently?
I don't.
But sit there praying for a miracle if you like.
We've basically signed anyone mad enough to put pen to paper. Who worth their salt would really show up for an outfit with no manager?
This will be a shit show of cataclysmic proportions, even for us!7 -

And if you ever listen to Reams over at ITTV or @DubaiCAFC here - plenty of times CM has told Reams who loves telling everybody there is REAL money available and Dubai has been told/tipped off we bid for Nombe, we are signing this player / that player.
Sadly there has been a significant exercise in being economical with, well, the economics.....

I make that a squad of 28 once the Man City loanee is confirmed, can’t argue with the numbers we have, even if Kirk ends up going 27 is good.A real shame we started so badly as there’s pressure on us now, it would’ve been lovely heading into Fleetwood at home with say 9/10 points but we are where we are, let’s see what they’ve got.0

Can’t say I disagree with the main point on those type of players being crucial, what I had hoped would be that we bring in other players that would improve us rather than pad the squad out. I’m not convinced these do, but we’ll see.6 -

"No, not those players."Yes, we need to sign players, but ideally they would be good enough.Let me give you an example:
‘Sign a striker’
*Club signs Bonne*‘No. Not that one.’
What’s the problem? If it was ‘Sign ANY striker. No not that one’ you might have a point.
Most on here, like me will have never seen some of these players play, possibly never heard of them.
Because they’re not household names, they’re already shit!
If they’re shite they’re shite.
I for one won’t judge until they’ve had a good few games.
That's the issue
A bunch of unproven, inexperienced young players will not enable our own unproven, inexperienced young players to force our way into the Top 6.
That's the issue. Oh, plus we've spent about 25p and a packet of polos.....
Methven uses SPIN
I am within my rights to point out the bleeding obvious. You may be happy with getting worse season on season.
We were promised money would be spent. Boasts of "Billionaires" and a desire that CAFC only makes sense in the upper half of the Championship.
Do you think ANY of their actions add up to supporting their claims currently?
I don't.
But sit there praying for a miracle if you like.
We've basically signed anyone mad enough to put pen to paper. Who worth their salt would really show up for an outfit with no manager?
This will be a shit show of cataclysmic proportions, even for us!
We are a laughing stock.
I'm sick to the back teeth of us signing another no mark and people coming on here and telling us how good they are.
They won't be. I've seen it all before. More than most with this shower of a football club. I flatly refuse to be taken in by clowns like Methven,Sandgaard and Southall
I can see us being on the back of some real good hidings this year
It's a complete and utter mess.15 -
Now we just have to find a manager who can get a tune out of these strangers. Big week ahead.4

Good point but I would have thought Andy Scott does, so we will probably have to wait and see.golfaddick said:
But to some fans all they see is numbers. We don't know much about these players so I doubt Fleetwood or Exeter fans do either.Yann897 said:
Iv seen so many other fans say they’re jealous about the business we’ve done but Charlton fans are just never happy.carly burn said:

Can you find me where Methven said money would be spent ? ( some has clearly ) but I’d also like to read that.. I remember him saying we’d be run sensibly with a good senior management team. That’s what a lot of people wanted, we’ve signed good players now we have to wait and see what they can do once we get a manager in and a few players back fit.supaclive said:
SPIN ???!Yann897 said:
such a negative spin it’s a joke, I wonder why some of you even bother with Charlton.supaclive said:
They might never "have a good few games"CafcSCP said:
