Teams with "United", "City", "Rovers", "Albion" even "Argyle" often get called by that part of their name. But for other clubs, using only the last part of the name just doesn't work. Has anyone ever called teams "Hotspur" or "Redbridge"?
Does anyone else cringe when Charlton are referred to just as "Athletic"?
Tip for lazy journalists: if you don't know Charlton's nickname, look it up, don't make it up.
