  • Why is everyone so down , we have new owners and they’re seriously wealthy , wait till the end of the next window , ignore Airman and his doom mongering prophecies , sit back and enjoy the ride
I’ll have some of what you are smoking Ooey!
  • I am new to this forum. I realise emotions are high particularly given our dreadful start to the season. However, I can't believe the negativity on here at the moment. I certainly hope MA doesn't read what's on here.
We have to be realistic about where our club is. We will not be attractive to a lot of managers, for various reasons. We have been poor for two or three seasons, have a squad which needs time and work  and with owners some of whom have previous in pulling the trigger then any new manager...or head coach...comes in with a target already on his back.  MA'S job will be a lot more difficult if the fans are against him, and that negativity is bound to spread on to the pitch.
To use an overused phrase, we are where we are. Let's get behind the new manager, behind the players and hope for the best.

We can ask one of our supposed billionaire owners that deeply care about our club to buy them out, easy.
You want the owners of Charlton to buy Charlton?

Thanks for the memories, but lets be honest this ain't working.
    It's been a few weeks

How can you tell it aint working already?
Presumably because we just appointed Michael Appleton as manager.

And also, simultaneously, to leave Charlton.
  • I won't call for them to go yet but from the outset this seems to be following the all to familiar death spiral of ineptitude of charlatans and chancers that we've been run by over the last 10 years or so.

I admire those who are still positive about things but I just can't see it. Until we're run by a serious group of people I can't see the fortunes of our club changing for the better. I don't know what the alternative is but I don't think this latest group is it.

To be fair to the poster we now have the team Roland set us up for all those years ago, a team full of kids whilst waitng for that one gem to come through so we can sell for massive money in todays stupid market. If we dont get promoted this year, Miles, Fraser and CBT will go and we will literally be screwed and I can see us going down. We are fast becoming a forgotten club like a Bradford/Oldham with a merry go round of poor managers.  We have new bunch of owners who have chose to go down the youth and cheap route of players which will get us no where.

As always I hope I am wrong and these owners will see in January or next summer what is required to get to compete at the top end of the league however we have been saying that every year for the last 10 years and its incredibly boring now.
Glad i'm not the only one who sees this. I'm not convinced there are any key decision makers at the club who have the club's interests before there own. None of them would bat an eyelid if they all walked away with us in League Two. Appreciate it's difficult to sell the club on for a profit without it succeeding which of course makes sense but its the method being used to try and achieve that which is currently ringing alarm bells as it's not going to work.

I believe they will sell all our valuable players then try and dip next summer
I would agree, but Dobbo, Miles and CBT appear to still be in our squad after this summer window
Would have been suicidal to sell any of them in the first official window

In time some of them may walk away when they are doing too much dough. However the PR train will possibly miss that one

I hope Appleton, Methven, Scott, Warrick, Keohane, Leneghan (sp) and the players do read Charlton life.
They urge our noise and support when it suits them, so they can jolly well get with the fans point of view too.
I especially hope Michael Appleton reads every word being said about him on Charlton life, assuming he can actually read, I reckon he might be able to read because there are actual words tattooed onto his skin.
  • Let’s give them a reasonable run before we get the pitchforks out shall we.

They have had their reasonable run haven’t they? Their choice of three managers now, a transfer window, decent initial enthusiasm from the fans. And what has all that got us?
    Two wins and eight defeats.
What would be the pitchfork threshold?

Crack on. We’re already a laughing stock so wanting owners out within two months would just be seen par for the course for Charlton Athletic. Some people want Appleton out. We’re a joke of a club and some of the fan base is too.

I only want wins from Appleton. As far as I am concerned he is welcome to stay whilst we are a winning team.

It isn’t a handful of dodgy results, it is sacking the manager too.
As for supporting the staff, I doubt everybody wants to support staff member Tony Keohane.

C'mon Seth. I'm as sceptical of them as the next man, yourself excluded because you are beyond that, but you can't seriously be suggesting they have had a reasonable run can you? They have only just overseen their first window in full charge and it's far too early to judge most of the signings and whether they will be enough to propel us up the league. I think they have made mistakes in recruitment but who doesn't. It's far too early to form an opinion of how things might change behind the scenes. A reasonable time to judge would be at the end of the season.

And who are these three managers they have chosen? If you are including Pearce then you are sillier than I thought.

I am including Pearce, silly me.
At my age I don’t want end of season judgement day to be still in this division or relegated.
I don’t want to die supporting a third division club.
So I am completely on board with Michael Appleton winning games and getting us promoted this season.
    Wouldn’t you like that too?
