  • It’s not so much that as that knowing about Oxford isn’t knowing about Charlton, or Sunderland. Clubs are not widget producers, they have very specific local contexts. I’m not seeing him as someone likely to be tuned into that. Their comms, for example, are weak and superficial. That won’t wash here.
Maybe once upon a time ,yes.
But things like that have been washing here for quite a few years now.

Yeah a lot of the feedback I got on that thread was Brener didn't like to invest more than the minimum to keep things ticking over.
Still have to wonder why bother at all.
  • He can say what he wants been said many times he not involved in the day to day running of the club and as no say in major decisions made .. he might have already moved in now his job of getting the group together is done
He's the owner Ron. Not Cilla Black.

What is it about this club and its owners posting on Linkedin. It's beyond unprofessional, it's playground stuff.
That’s true, but at least some on here will now know him on first name terms.

  • That's because the posters with ologies have joined the debate.  CL is an eclectic mix of the university educated with bona fide degrees and 14 year old school leavers who went up chimneys; with many others in between.

Everyone has a voice and opinions, and it's up to the CL members to be discerning to see the Wheat from the chaff.

Off to wash my face as this soot gets right up my nose.
No idea about peanuts but I never went to University
  • It is a great pity that the club put out this information through the local newspaper rather than direct to supporters on the club's OS
  • Sounds like Pearce won't be part of the new team - of his own choice

Soot?  Is that what they're calling it these days?

    And nor did Einstein, Henry.
Though you do need to get a bloody move on if you want to transform our comprehension of the Universe.

Hopefully he returns to coaching the Academy U18s, which he has proved very successful at...

found it really encouraging that he wanted that and that Scott is happy about it

After sorting out Charlton that will be, relatively, easy.
  • Isn't it time we had a "Michael Appleton, 100%" banner on CL?

If he had done he might have made fewer mistakes. Just sayin’.

  • I think perhaps it’s a good bet by him. Nails his colours to the Appleton mast and gets sacked along with him when it eventually happens, which inevitably it will.
Oh yes, I'm not remotely complaining about it. Quite the opposite.
  • I love how, over multiple threads McApples has become a Micky Grandles favourite.

Reminds me when all of our players were definitely going to Wimbledon.
  • I assume from the Cawley article that Anthony Hayes is no longer there, as it says
"Anthony Hayes, who had been assistant first-team manager when Holden was still employed, assisted Pearce for the most recent League One fixture. Stephen (Hendo) is still here and Jason Pearce is still with Michael".

i got stick because i said nothing was happening when airman said a takeover was imninent - i knew nothing was happening but people didn't want to believe it - some prat called me a beard around that time - i was never pro duchatalet - indeed i started posted again under the name doucher as a jibe at him after id stopped posting for a number of years but felt the need to express some views again when the duchatalet merry go round was at its height

  • Am I reading it that there was a 5 hour interview that included the mystery coach taking a training session?

    Sounds odd to me.

Also are we meant to be impressed the interview requires Scott and Appleton to agree on the appointment? Hardly a unique situation / approach.
  • Sounds like they are out of work as well if they pop in for a 5 hour training session

And I bet it's one of Appleton's former assistants.
