Different type of stewarding this afternoon

For the first time at a home league game this season people were being searched as they entered the turnstiles to the upper covered end.

No issue with that but when asked why, the steward said it was an instruction from Greenwich Council

Does this have something to do with the safety certificate and especially after the ref got it with a bottle at the Fleetwood game?

Did anyone did anyone else see the fans getting escorted out of the Lower West in the second half. About 20 of them - I overheard a steward saying they were German.

I sit there and entered the ground roughly at 2.45, did'nt get searched near the fans bar turnstiles. They had probably got bored by then as I did
not witness anyone else getting checked.

Was the bottle incident at the Fleetwood game thrown from the West Stand, not something the Covered End would do (-:

On the flip side, there were no stewards present once you went through the East turnstiles today. Normally a few tagging bags

Some old guy in a stewards outfit told me I couldn't take my motorbike helmet in. Luckily a younger woman in the same kit corrected him quickly.

There was someone vaping in his seat in the upper north, a steward came down to him and I thought he was going to drag him out. He just had a word with him. The steward wasn’t the normal type of steward that normally at games, he had a purple bib on.

Three Reading Football Club fans have told the BBC they were sexually assaulted by stewards.

The male fans claim they were touched inappropriately during body searches before the match against Bolton on 16 September at the SCL Stadium.

Thames Valley Police confirmed it is investigating five reports of sexual assault at the match.
