Sheffield Wednesday - players and staff paid late 2 months in a row (p7)

Sounded more like a threat than a promise.0

Bottom line here is that there’s zero chance of Sheffield Wednesday being liquidated. Administration yes possibly, relegation possibly, points deduction possibly, lean times possibly but just like all football clubs in jeopardy they will be saved until the next time. This is a manifestation of the sickness pervading English football. Too much money swilling about in football and not enough of it down the pyramid where it’s desperately needed. I do feel sorry for the fans because it’s not their fault and they’re mostly helpless but Wednesday fans are amongst the most entitled and obnoxious I’ve come across. On that basis alone I’ll allow myself some pleasure watching them squirm.

You really need a thick skin to be an owner.....saying that some supporters are deluded thinking the owners throw more money at the club and their sense of entitlement.....I would have a hard time funding a club and then abuse is thrown at me and my family.......4

Unfortunately social media means people can spout off whatever they like. I’m not saying this owner is a saint but he is putting a lot of money into the club. I thought that about TS as well tbh, yes he was an idiot but he continued to pay the bills and a lot of the shit he got was out of order. If I was an owner trying to do the best I could and spunking millions I would tell the fans to do one as well6

Their owner is a lunatic but he has pumped an absolute fortune into them, now his money (or the amount he is willing to waste) is gone they moan he won't spend anything.0

Some interesting comments on here around sympathy for the owner and (subtext) how fans should be grateful because of the money he pumps in.
If other fans forums had displayed similar comments about us under Duchatelet this board would have gone apoplectic.
Chansiri is a batshit crazy egotist using Wednesday as a plaything, albeit an expensive one.
There are many similarities between them now and us then.

I’d forgotten that he had even had his name put on the seats, bet the fans love that!
Can you imagine if we’d had Roland’s name put in each stand, we’d have no seats left!1 -

I'd rather it didn't happen to anyone honestly.16 -
I don’t mind Wednesday , big proper away support , no matter how shit they are .
Of course they’ll have more bellends cos they have more supporters .
i still don’t get why anyone would buy a football club not expecting to lose a shed load of money , I mean all this “investment” bollox is just that , you’re not ever getting a return , you’re burning money , no matter what bullshit pattter mr salesman’s given you ,it’s a gazillion to one shot10 -
It’s a classic example of why football is in such a sorry state. These egotistical owners with money to burn like Chansiri, Sandgaard and others bask in the adoration and glory until they get fed or get criticised and pissed off throwing money away or realise the whole idea was bollox. It’s boom and bust ad infinitum. It’s one of the reasons why I reluctantly admire clubs like Millwall who are stable and have shown that slow steady organic growth is the best way. Yes it might not be spectacular or instant but it’s safe and Millwall proved last season that it can work. They came so close to achieving the impossible. Still too early to say which route SE7 is taking but as much as I’d have been excited for them to have splashed the cash, I’d certainly take a steady year on year improvement built on solid foundations. Wednesday will now get sold and the likelihood is that another egomaniac will take the reins to a fanfare of trumpets until in a few seasons it all goes tits up again.5
