I suspect it’s to give him the chance to get off the mark. He missed that penalty that he was given for that purpose and then didn’t finish his chances against Blackpool. It can hang over strikers and this feels like a pretty easy way to remove that potential mental blockFortune 82nd Minute said:

Ref gives a free kick for something I'm not sure what. Villa take it quickly but shoot straight at AMB.
