Doubtless there will still be mistakes made, and time will tell what our new owners plan is and how achievable it is, but there’s generally an air of competence about the place right now and the performances under Appleton, so far, have been evidence of that.
It’s been a while since everyone just looks like they know what they are doing and it’s amazing how far something so simple can get you.3 -

I'm very impressed with Appleton so far, genuinely. But I still want to see us have a good game - 90 minutes worth - not games where we're better for 45 minutes, or 60 minutes, or even 30 here and 30 there. Just a game where we are consistently better than the oppo.
And to be fair I suspect that is probably what MA is trying to work towards, playing a long game. But it's still frustrating that we only turn up for periods of any given match.

Good win today, but tougher tests to come ie Lincoln away on Tuesday, and Bolton at home next Saturday, come through both of those games with 6 points then we are in a promotion push.0

Our bench has got to be up there as one of the strongest in the league so I think we will keep on finishing games strong with players like Asiimwe, Fraser, Camara, Tedic and Aneke to bring on0 -

Campbell and Asiimwe are both very young still and have both had injuries already this season. As is/has Leaburn.
L Watson has never played regular men's football before and is still struggling to play more than 70 minutes.
You have to get the balance between starting your best team, maximising when you use your players most effectively, planning for "what ifs", and protecting your younger players from burn out.
Maybe if Aneke isn't avaliable Chem can come on to the bench and allow Tupac to start?0 - Sponsored links:

That Norwich game sticks in my mind:
We were under pressure for the whole game and we mugged then late on with a Jackson grass cutter that Ruddy or Rudd ? Got all wrong and the ball ended up in the back of the net.
We were the last team to lose a game in the division as we were quite rigid as a team and Rhoys Wiggins was told to only attack when or if we were well ahead !
IF Igor hadn't got injured at Rotherham which led to major problems then who knows but not for the first time an inform striker gets injured and we fall away.0 -
As I mentioned on the post match thread think he got the selection wrong today. After winning 4-0 against Reading probably thought he could change the personnel and keep the same style and go and dominate Lincoln.
For me I think Appleton needs to bring in an additional midfielder (Camera but not fit enough to start) and drop one of the front 4 to make us harder to play against. In almost every game we have seen teams make 1 or 2 passes between them and they are running at our back 4.3 -
Appleton said the difference between Bolton and Charlton is that the Bolton manager has had 4 years to implement his style. And yet he never stays anywhere that long. So I’m confused as to what he means or wants.0

The cracks are beginning to show, it was inevitable I suppose.
Maybe we will go to Wigan on Tuesday and win convincingly we haven’t got long to wait.
Right now the direction of travel is not promotion, but how our raft of so called billionaire owners/investors can minimise their losses.

Playing May up front on his own yesterday against 3 big defenders, one of whom is possibly the best in the league, was just completely and utterly stupid.2 -

The issue is that our squad is very unbalanced for any formation. That is on Andy Scott and Holden.

Playing a big man up front would’ve played right into Santos and co’s hands. We’ve tried it with Stockley and others in recent years, with very little success.
Aneke, if fit, might have been worth a go but Leaburn and Tedic have done nothing in their previous couple of starts to suggest they would’ve fared any better than Charlton strikers of past seasons.
