Great read. Thanks.0

Great article that. Even though he didn't make it here he's still only 20 and playing every week at a decent level, so if he does well there's a good chance he'll be back in league football soon.
He could maybe look at Santos at Bolton for inspiration. He was non-league as a kid before Peterborough signed him and then at the age of 23-24 he was back in non-league with Barnet. Now he's an important part of a Bolton side who could be heading to the Championship next year.3 -
Great read.
Very praiseworthy of the recently departed Anthony Hayes, and a good insight into aspects of being a young player trying to get started in the game.

Seems like a very level headed and sensible fella. Good luck to him, I hope he does well there. My son has played over at Wealdstone a few times and it sounds like they have a good set up.0

Said this on the L1 transfer thread but would be surprised to see him play much. Really happy for him though, seems like a lovely lad1

Great move for him, he will end up being a good league 1 player.1

I never really understood why Barker wasn't given more of a chance here after some very impressive early performances.
Can only assume it was thought he wasn't quite tall enough for a centre half in he modern game and maybe not good enough to play full back.
Either way, it's good he has fought his way back into the pro game. Hopefully, a good example for all those who have been released at the end of last season.4 - Sponsored links:

Charlie is from a family that knows football. His father Richie Barker had a pretty respectable playing career, followed by extensive managerial and coaching experience.
I hope things work out well for Charlie Barker, there is absolutely no reason for any Charlton fan to feel negatively towards him unless he is playing against us.7 -
Interestingly his dad also managed Crawley previously, so already a family link with the club.0

Hopefully the time at Wealdstone has calmed him down. Wish him luck with the move.0 -
I think Charlie was too enthusiastic for his own good, charging about everywhere.I hope his time at Wealdstone has slowed him down a bit.He played really well for us when he came into the side,no reason he should not have a good career in league football.2
