  • Weird game. If it wasn’t for AMB we might have lost the game or won it!

Definitely could’ve gone either way. Our defence still creaks badly under pressure (a right back and centre back and left back cover need to be on the shopping list in January) but our attack had some real moments and there were periods when we were on top.

Pompey will feel like it’s two points dropped but I think we were decent value for a point.

Quote of the day comes from Steve Brown talking about the team for Wednesday .. “ one player should be fresh after todays game CBT “

Probably a fair result. Fair play to the lads for the resilience. They had their chances but a shame that poor defending for the first and Ash’s rush of blood gave them their goals. However, their keeper didn’t cover himself in glory. AMB the one slip aside had one hell of a game. Some outstanding saves. No idea why Appleton didn’t get Tedic on. Never had McGrandles down to do anything let alone score but fair play to him for being in the right place. If only Dobbo didn’t have that second touch, what might have been! Anyway, a good, spirited effort that was much needed after last week. Poor old Pompey they can’t beat us eh!

Fully deserved .. could have snatched it through Dobson , but what character from the boys to get back to 1-1 then watch AMB rush of blood you would have been surprised if Pompey scored a third or even forth .. really pleased for McGrandles good little cameo from him and a goal as well …

we should have had a pen for a clear  hand ball in the box from May shot .. and it looked like it was going to be one of them days ..

Special mention to the defence Hector and Jones were massive today both carrying knocks in the last 15 mins but brilliant  supported by T Watson who had his best game and Edun great to see him back

Well done boys we are not far away from
    being where Pompey are ..

For all you naysayers who have given McGrandle a torrid time….that celebration is what you get….

On the coach home, thought we were pretty decent apart from the last 20 or so, showed grit and not pretty at times but very happy with a point today, would have taken the point beforehand.
Best atmosphere of the season, both sets of fans were excellent, some proper limbs and injuries in our end, my youngster loved every minute

Proper game, team gave their all.
Kinda felt sorry for McGrandles after he scored. Sure he'd have loved to have celebrated that properly but clearly doesn't feel wanted here. Hopefully a turning point for him.
He said in his interview after the game that he didn’t want to over celebrate because he knew there were a few minutes left to hang on. It wasn’t because he didn’t feel wanted.
He came across as a decent fella. Let’s hope his confidence will have had a big boost.
Btw, it was very decent header. Anywhere else and it would have been a regulation save. He asked a question of the (injury faking) keeper, who didn’t have the answer.
Well he's not gonna say it is he.
  • Wow, what a cracking game, particularly that last 10 minutes or so which was real edge of the seat sort of stuff!

I've said it before but Maynard-Brewer has the potential to be a very good keeper. Some great saves today and can only assume his adrenaline must have been absolutely pumping after making an incredible save for him to come charging out and concede that penalty.

Alfie May scores another goal from a half-chance. He's already entering legend territory. The danger must surely be if he carries on like this someone will try and sign him in January! And I'm half serious saying that!

So pleased when McGrandles' header went in and made that Pompey keeper look a complete idiot. Karma at its very best for the way he had play acted when May challenged him.

And if only George hadn't lost control of the ball in the very final seconds.....!
  • A hard fought point against a very decent Pompey team. After the shithousery when he collapsed after May stroked his foot, poetic justice that their keeper Norris was at fault again for our second equaliser.

A cracking game though, with a mad end to the second half, when both teams left themselves short at the back when chasing the win.

Must've been proper limbs in that away end. As frustrating as it can be, I can understand it when their players started slowing the game down towards the end, but their keeper performed "shithousery" of the highest order, so the nature of the equaliser made it even sweeter. Thank god we signed May in the summer.

It was outside the area apparently. They checked the replay.

Great game especially for the neutral. Take the point. Thought we were going to win it there at the end. Yes, kudos to Conor M. Hope he can kick on. Clearly not going to use Tedic. Assume we will call Kanu back from loan? If only Chuks was available.
  • Very enjoyable watch today, end to end with both teams playing some good football at times. Somehow Dobbo and May continue without that fifth booking!

ct, so many times on here I have wanted a player to ram it back down a posters throat. Today when McGrandles scored seconds after being accused by DDOUBLEE and Golfie of being shit, when neither of them had seen him play for any length of time, I danced around the room.

McGrandles hasn’t deserved the shit he has received on here imo. He has been great wherever he has been but for either injury or form reasons he has had a chance to show what he can do since he joined us

Our last three games have been against joint 2nd home, would be 8th if not for points deduction away, and first away. We've gotten four points which is good, especially given the three came against the team we'll most likely be fighting for a playoff spot with (I think Bolton and Pompey will be runaways near the top of the league).

There's something about this team that they always believe they can score. There's been a lot of moaning in recent years about "not fighting for the shirt" and other stuff like that. I don't really believe in that, but I wish this team got more credit for being scrappy and finding ways to get results.

Injuries are starting to pile up, and pile up in the same areas, which may mean that we have to change our approach in coming weeks. We may have to bring in another CM to become more solid in the middle of the park and maybe give Lwat more freedom because he still needs to work on his defending.

Great point. Would have taken it at kick off. And to come from behind twice is excellent. And overall a great game of football with a lot of quality on show.

Had we brought Appleton in in pre season and had a little better luck with injuries and getting transfers in sooner, I fully believe we'd be in the playoff spots now. That awful start gave us a mountain to climb but we're five points off sixth and in playoff form. This team has enough individual quality to finish sixth or higher, but we'll need luck with injuries and to bring in a couple of upgrades in January to get there (FB, RW).

I don't really care about last weekend. I hope Apples plays another reserve side midweek, we've got players who need minutes in their legs. Our goal is to get promoted, and it's an achievable goal with this squad right now.

couldn’t watch today but sounded like a cracking game. whatever you think of Appleton he seems to have instilled some resilience and fight in the group of players. Feels like we’re not a team who give up anymore

Disagree our defence was superb today T Watson had his best game by miles again considering Campbell in front of him was so poor .. and Hector and Jones were massive today

Pompey fans not very impressed with Norris performance today.

Just a shame we didn't have Chuks to bring on for the last 20 mins. We'd have gone on the win that.

I’m only just calming down from the game.

I’m so pleased for McGrandles. And his celebration was a proper dig at the fans, but hopefully this can be a turning point because he honestly came with an excellent league one pedigree.

We know CBT wasn’t at his best, but let’s give him the benefit of the doubt before throwing him under the bus. All players have off games and they marked him well. He’s been outstanding for us this season.

Finally, AMB put in one of the best keeping performances I’ve seen for a while today. Some outrageously good saves.

Was far more impressed with Bolton than Pompey , a few decent players like Lane and Robertson but Bolton looked a cut above.

What I don't understand is how the ref and his assistant between them couldn't see the handball which was a pen every day according to the laws as they are now!!!!!

The way he managed the injury faking keeper was an outrage. Very poor.

That might be because we're always awful against Bolton and always good against Pompey though...

I do agree that Bolton looked the best, but Pompey without Poole, Pack, and Anjorin are a different proposition than when those three are fit.

It feels like ages ago but Oxford looked like they were just toying with us for 60 minutes in that game. They look really good.

I think it'll be those three at the top and everyone else playing for three playoff spots
