I was going to go to the Oxford game. Not now. I can't stand watching this shower of shite any more . Why should i make the effort when the players or manager won't.  Every game is a carbon copy of the last one . It's like watching groundhog day.

  • Totally unacceptable performances the last few games. Owners needs to step up big time in January. Appleton has lost all credibility.

No reaction from Tuesday despite Apples saying we’d see a reaction and better energy levels. May wasn’t having a great game but he’s not a winger. I know Tedic scored but why not stick May through the middle too and try to win the game.
To be fair, I thought we played better than we did against Orient. The problem is that we’re not actually very good so playing a bit better doesn’t mean too much. And, even when we do play a bit better, we have defensive moments like their winner so none of it really matters does it? Whoever we play whether it be the best team in League One or Cray Valley Paper Mills, we always have those moments.

I coach my son’s u16 football team and they conceded a goal from a set piece this season which wasn’t quite as bad as that one tonight and we gave them a bollocking afterwards. They train for two hours a week. Those pricks are professionals! Whey did no one stand on it?? Why was CBT having a wander? Why were Tedic and Hector walking? How could that many people be unmarked!!?

Another point, which obviously isn’t isolated to tonight, is our reaction to conceding late goals. Why is Appleton not pushing big lumps forward? We’re putting crosses in at minute 96 and it’s 2v5 in the box with Hector and Jones on the half way line!!

    None of it makes sense…

I have no clue on the stats but the amount of late goals we concede is ridiculous. Yes Appleton is devoid of any personality and seems to just stand on the touchline like some kind of mutant android but I thought he was supposed to be an excellent coach ? A decent coach stops those late goals after the first few occasions and not allow it to happen for weeks on end. Get shot now season is over start to build for next season we are going nowhere with this muppet

Looking at the vast majority of lifers views over the last few weeks we can't all be wrong. There is something truly dreadful going on at our club and it needs root and branch surgery.

The issue really is who has the power and the balls to do this?

My worry like most of us is that the Manager probably won't be sacked and will get to bring in his own players. .. However, wanting something and getting it are two different things.

I still think it will be a dreadful window but you never know but I'm not holding my breath.

Curbs and Brownie summed it up for me. The squad is too young, the loanee's that were brought in were roughly of the same age, I thought two senior players being brought in would sort it but looking at the lack of nous for the second goal we need about six senior pros and that is a big change, and that would have to happen whoever is in charge.

Fitter and stronger than us. Got bullied. We could have got something from the game if we had a bit more composure/luck but a soft underbelly and the work to change that has to start now.
  • How can you be a professional football player in the front 6 of the field and not want to take the ball off the defence and make things happen? Take the ball, turn, take the foul or beat the player. Get the team up the pitch at least. Anderson has zero football brain, CBT should be a sprinter not a footballer, Kanu is like one of those kids you put up front just to stay away from play; again has no football brain and offers nothing!

Imagine an Appleton team in the Championship, that would be diabolical let alone the fact we will never get there with him. He stands there on the side with his hands in his pockets, never seen the guy make a gesture in terms of a tactical switch up or a bit of motivation.

League One isn’t Yann ball anymore where you hit it up to the big man to flick it on, there’s more to it. Formations are set up to deal with the second balls. You need to play through the lines with footballers who don’t do the first thing that comes to mind, they actually think outside the box, create space and bring others into play.

Another bottom half mid table season unfortunately.

I haven't been down to The Valley for a couple of months now. Been thinking about gong on Monday as its a new year. New start perhaps ? New manager in by then ?

  • Tonight is the night I finally lost patience with Appleton. If he is still here tomorrow the people in charge are equally as clueless as him.

And if he does stay, why on earth would anyone trust him to spend any money we may have for transfers wisely?

Been said a million times but playing the best striker we have had for ages as a right winger is bonkers. And taking him off is even  more insane.

And how did Anderson stay on for 98 minutes. I like the guy, hope he will have a good career but he was so out of his depth tonight it was embarrassing.

And how many goals have we let in in injury time since our relegation season in 2019/20? It must run into the twenties or thirties. Its just so unprofessional for it to keep happening.

Something has to change soon or this club is going to die. That might sound melodramatic but its the truth.

We are absolute Shite.  Sack the lot off. TWUNTS
(i changed the wording to not get a ban)

    Night
  • So 3 points out of 15 this month, when at least 3 of those were games you'd expect to win as a promotion seeking club. Plus dumped out of the FA Cup by Gillingham (and the EFL Trophy by Reading).  It's all gone horribly wrong this month.

Curbs just put it perfectly post match, this team is full of individuals and no leaders. No bollocks to hold onto a lead or a point away from home and the manager has no clue. Embarrassing!

What’s the difference between Appleton and a snap together airfix model?

    One’s a glueless kit.

The problem is, if Appleton is sacked, shouldn't Scott walk with him? He has more responsibility for the squad than Appleton and it isn't easy putting a team of kids and softies out against men.

wont be there Monday because I’m sick of watching this dogshit set of players and wank coaching team perform the same level of pish each week. I hope the fans give them the stick they deserve

I've been against sacking MA so close to the window, but having elected to not watch the Orient game, I decided, at the last minute  to watch tonight.
Having read the Orient post match thread and seen tonight's game, I'm now of the opinion he needs to go, despite the window being only a few days away!
Basic errors all over the pitch, no fight, no plan A or B, playing players out of position, the whole situation is desperate and depressing. However I can't think of anyone that I'd give the job to, except Curbs or Powell, and that is the problem, they don't want it, so do we go for yet another 'journeyman'.
Finally I have to say, regrettably, that Dobbo was poor again tonight and has been the last few games, perhaps he k ows he's off in January?
Another shit show to be followed by a shit weekend....when will it stop!
  • Again caught out with a lack of leadership and switching off at the end of a game. I don't know how many times this has happened this year but it is too many.

Teams know exactly how to play against us and Appleton is too inflexible to change formation, most subs always being like for like. Today the subs miraculously got us a goal but it was also one of them that gave away the unnecessary free kick leading to the calamitous second goal.

A December to forget, a December that won't exactly have players clamouring to join us for the rest of the season.

Our complete lack of organisation, inability to defend, no urgency and now we can't even take a throw in without conceding the ball, that's down to coaching.

We need a rebuild and a complete clear out, the coach is hired to get the best out of his players and at that he is failing dismally.

The players we have aren't good enough in a team environment, maybe on paper but the reality is obvious to anyone, they just aren't cohesive as a unit. That's down to recruitment.

Won't be unhappy to see any of them go and I don't ever remember thinking that since I started watching regularly in 1967.

Completely gifted the opportunity to get back in it by the mistake their bloke made letting Tyreece Campbell in behind him, and no one picking up Tedic.  But even with that late Xmas present, they then go and switch off in the most abject fashion for their winner.

This starts at the top.  An unknown and untried bunch of owner/investors, willingly putting some money in to fund us, but other than that we know little of their motives.  We get soundbites from a shady SLT in Methven, Scott and Rodwell, very much with their spin, “there will be investment in Jan” etc.

They’ve appointed a soulless, mediocre league one dud of a manager, who doesn’t look like he knows what he’s doing.

And then on to the pitch.  Just a bunch of players I think a lot of the supporters can’t stand, bar one or two.

It won’t stop us going, the fans are resilient and have endured a lot worst over the years (in comparison to getting kicked out the valley for example).  However, this current crop of owners, leadership team, manager and players are damaging this club and compounding it to a point where it may be beyond return

A team with a distinct lack of quality, leadership and talent is an absolutely lethal combination. If there aren’t some significant changes in January this could get much worse very quickly.
  • I just cannot believe what I have seen.A worst goal than the one against Orient.Just look where our defence is when one of two players 5 yards out puts the ball in from an unchallenged pass into the goal area..Hector is actually on the edge of the penalty area when they score, where is the urgency to get back and fill the area,CBT looks like he has nodded off.Would also point out this was Dobsons worst game in a Charlton shirt, his passing was hopeless. This is getting worse, but I dont see what Appleton can do when he is regularly let down by the players on the pitch,i wouldnt like to manage this lot.

Problem with that is, whatever his title says, he's essentially the Director Of Football at the club. I reckon that pays pretty well and he won't volunteer to give that up, so the only way he gets the sack is a vote of no confidence from the other directors on the board (his mates) or from the owners giving enough of a shit to notice he's to blame and not the head coach at the time, which I reckon is pretty unlikely

That was not a bad performance tonight we did not deserve to lose that game but the main diff was they bring in a physical experienced striker and ours are injured , and that’s when we started to slip once Leaburn joined Aneke on the injured list … was not long ago we were scoring for fun , MA must be frustrated and he most be given time to get his own players in .. and to build a balanced squad .
    Not bad? Not bad?

    Please don't go trolling tonight.

Absolutely pathetic. It won’t get any better under apples. Droll of the next few months trying now to avoid a relegation scrap. Don’t anyone tell me we’re too good to go down. You can see the team is totally lost.
Dobbo will go soon, CBT too ( Hopefully he’s utter crap)
God help us on Monday. Worst I’ve seen for ages.
Holden must be laughing his head off.
