This is an interesting debate and the different line ups demonstrate the diversity of choice. My selection will probably change on a day by day basis.
Also how do we factor things like the level that someone played and also the fitness level? I would love to select the Liverpool/ Watford version on John Barnes or even Jesper Bloquvist as he would have performed for Man Utd or would that be cheating?
I am not sure Derek Hales would survive in today's game but might be a useful option off the bench.
So with 9 subs here goes:
Carson , Humphrey, Powell, Rufus, Costa, Simonsen , Diarra , Parker , Reid , Di Canio, D Bent.
Subs: Kiely , Young, Aizlewood, Bowyer , Kinsella, Lee , Hales , Flanagan, Mendonca.2 -
Seen a few on here putting Humphrey at right back. I’m 41 now and remember him coming back on a free from palace and he wasn’t all that (to my untrained 12 year old eye!). Was he really that good first time around? Better than Luke Young or dare I say…. Danny Mills?_MrDick said:1965 onwards

Yes it is the first spell that secures his selection for me. Luke Young and Danny Mills would be my next two choices.TomCAFC said:

As a team the side that finished 7th in the Premier League would be my choice.

Have you thought of becoming our next manager, that is a fantastic group you have put together.Richard J said:This is an interesting debate and the different line ups demonstrate the diversity of choice. My selection will probably change on a day by day basis.

If not manager, how about replacing Scott?

Absolutely superb first time around. Would have played for England had he been at a more fashionable club imo.TomCAFC said:

I don't think I've ever seen anyone nominate Peter Reid in a favourite Charlton team beforefelthamaddict said:Peter Wakeham. Harry Cripps, Marvin Hinton, Richard Rufus, Chris Powell - Billy Bonds, Scot Parker, Peter Reid - Di Canio, Eddie Firmani. Johny Summers.
It is a personal thing: Peter Wakeham had a great autograph with an incredible letter 'P'. Stuart Leary would be in my 'Best Ever' team, but Johnny Summers was my football hero. I remember standing on the railing at the front of the East Stand and seeing about 5 players Charlton restraining him from murdering the Plymouth fullback. It was like looking at Superman. His son was in the year above me a Catford Boys School - had a friend called 'Stuart'.SoundAsa£ said:

Totally agree. He used to bomb up and down the wing and sling over some fantastic crosses on the run.Brownie12 said:

Bang on. Was a brilliant footballer and a good character by all accounts. Was a bit past his best when he returned (as was Paul Williams around the same time) but still had a lot to offer.Off_it said:
