The chances are that they are not grown men, i'd wager more teenagers

What type of midfielder is Greg Doherty?
Are we after Coventry and Doherty I wonder?
You’d have to think both would mean Dobson is off now, not in the summer.

And if we sell him and CBT then this supposed ‘impressive January window’ from the new owners might not be so awe inspiring. Using that money to fund replacements is just house keeping, not having a go at next season.

    Wait and see I guess.

For me the debate is still open if Watson & Edun are an improvement on Clare & Sessegnon yet.

The only position in the team the new decision makers have improved IMO is upfront with May but if you go with the rosier fan logic that the likes of Scott have no blame for the poor recruitment last January then they logically can not get any credit for May either since it was not their club yet.

So I am still waiting for a signing from them that significantly improves us.
    1. Sessegnon
    2. Watson
    3. Edun
    4. Clare

So its about even for me

Cawley’s inviting people to ask questions. I can’t work out whether I should be embarrassed and who for. He’s replied to the first two saying they’ll cover those. Will be interesting to hear the answers especially on the midfield.

People really care about the club and it's progress and it means a lot to many of us.

He's a journalist on social media talking about transfers....can't see what is embarrassing about that anymore that a group of men and women spending their days talking about Charlton and favourite cheeses under anonymised pseudonyms really.

I suppose this explains why some blokes would rather get lost than ask for directions

we need 2 first choice full backs, neither Watson or Edun are good enough - both are poor defensively (especially Edun) and neither are good going forward
I said this to Scott who didn't appear to agree (although tbf he can't say in public my 2 wing back signings are poor defensively.
Disagree on Tennai - think he’s been fairly strong attacking wise since the day he made his first appearance and he’s been trending upwards on his defensive contributions too.

Edun has me worried lately though.
Edun started well and has regressed badly.

So there is a rumour that the guy who was in our stadium on Saturday has failed a medical and that may be why it's now Thursday and we've not had it announced he's signed
We like Coventry from West Ham
We like Docherty from Hull - but Cawley says we are not close on that deal yet
We like a player from MK Dons who's been taken back off loan at Swindon, but apparently Derby are favourites to sign him
We like JCH (but we have for a long time) and there are other suitors

Well, at least we SOUND active.   We LOOK active.   Signings required.   I'm sure they're working hard - all the previous management have told us that.   Sadly Saturday's game is 48 hours away and looks like we'll be going into that game with the same squad that's seen us lose our last three and look the worst side potentially we've ever had.

I'm not going all Golfie yet and I know it's only the 4th January.   But we have been here before.  Many, many, many times.

I am also not convinced Jones is a significant improvement on Innis currently.

Although like May, Jones even if you do rate him is not a signing by Scott if he gets a free pass for last January.

I spoke with Gallen about 3 weeks ago and above is 100% correct. He said categorically Jones was 100% him and only him that got that deal done. He also gave me a lot of other info that I promised I would not share.

Cut him some slack, Rob Baker is Luke Littler's younger half-brother, he's only 6.

What difference is it to the days people use to load up football news on Teletext or more recently general scouring of internet forums? Also love the use of the term 'pestering' neither of these posts show any 'pestering'.

    Embarrassingly incorrect post.

Have I touched a nerve dazzler ? Are you one of the ones who pester rich? I have seen That Rob message Rich almost daily like some lover stalking his ex, every time the transfer window opens. I didn’t necessarily mean just those two posts, if you don’t find it embrassing then so be it.

If Rich answers then that's probably because he doesn't mind the questions, if he didn't want to be pestered he'd just stop replying

Also it's mad that we actually have some solid rumours for once but instead of talking about them we're talking about the twitter activities of our fans/the only local journalist to cover our transfers in depth

Yes, I’ve also been given a lot of information that I’ve sworn on pain of death that I’d keep schtum, mostly bollox but a promise is a promise.

Agree. Jones is on a different planet. Innis on a free transfer went bottom of L2 for a reason.

Jones is absolutely miles better than Inniss. Inniss is better in the air but other than that Jones is better at pretty much everything else
Jones hasn’t been sent off yet either? Without wanting to put the mockers on that.

Innis would get sent off multiple times a season if not already on the sidelines injured.
  • Mr Gillesphey (weird spelling) sounds like one for late this season/next season, judging from this stuff from the Plymouth Herald.

He played 35 times for the Pilgrims in their 2022/23 League One title-winning campaign but missed the start of this season due to injury and since returning to fitness has been limited to just three starts and one appearance off the bench.

The defender returned to the starting line-up for the 2-2 draw away to Cardiff City on Boxing Day and played for 70 minutes before being taken off due to cramp. He then missed the 2-1 defeat at Southampton last Friday.

I quite like Jones but feel he has been as error prone as other defenders recently, not ready to declare him top six quality yet.

I think Jones is more than capable of playing in a promotion winning league one side. The problem is the rest of the defenders around him.
I wouldn’t write off Watson or Edun improving yet. Getting them proper competition would be a good start. With Asiimwe and Thomas backing them up they know they’ll start the majority of the time. We also need to strengthen the spine of the team so they can spend more time on the ball and going forward and take some pressure off them defensively.

I don't agree. I think he is a big upgrade and consistently our best defender. Innis was never consistent. When he was good he was very good, but when he was bad he was very bad. Jones would be one of the first names on the team sheet for me, probably after Alfie May and George Dobson.

Yes, he played in the 5-1 thumping we gave them in August 2022. At fault for all five IIRC. Likes the Valley 😉

I wouldn’t do it but I’m pleased that someone does it lol. Without anything being shared, that “failed medical” rumour would be fact already - probably already is in some people’s eyes, like the Dan Kemp to Derby one.
