Re the amount of midfielders we'd have on the books - I'd like to think the Coventry signing would free up Anderson to go out on loan and potentially look at moving on from Fraser. I'm also not overly convinced about Camaras fitness record either so depth could actually be very useful.

And we'd still get overrun in midfield

Excellent news on Coventry. He walks into our starting XI.

Definitely has “elite 8” potential. :-)

Wouldn’t be surprised if Dobson ended up in the MLS
  • Conor Coventry having a medical as I type

This would be quite interesting. Could actually see him doing well in MLS , been a fair few EFL midfielders that have done well out there and their window doesn't close until March.

If Dobson leaves then it’s all Bromley Addicks fault.

    Simple as that.

    Same goes for CBT too.
Na... they will just blame the owners!!
    As they should
If we were top 6, winning games, with a real chance of promotion and the club made them a good offer, they'd sign.

I wouldn't re-sign for us based on the current footballing prospects at CAFC

They must be crazy though- what with Appleton being the best coach in the world and all that...
Club is a mess.. It is no quick fix! this years of damage.. And if you are not going to allow time, it will never be fixed!

Super hero Varney isn't coming to the rescue.. suck it up, and support! We have little option..
But Charlie said it wasn't hard with better management to reduce the losses to £1.5m - £2m per year and establish ourselves as a top half Championship side.

If it's not hard how comes we're making it look quite difficult being a top half Division 3 side??...
Won't happen over night.. It takes time!
Andy Scott is on the record as saying we have a squad to compete for top 6.
    He said failure stops now
Methven said you only have to be better than previous owners to dramatically cut losses and establish ourselves in the top half of the Championship.

They were completely wrong or they aren't very good at their jobs.

Of course it would take time regardless of the manager etc

Right now though, we are lightyears away.
Scott hasn't got it right, everyone knows and the owners know that as well.. Let's see what happens over the next 2 windows, then make a real judgement!

As I said, it won't happen over night!

We are not looking to scrap the bottom of the barrel now.
    Two more windows
On top of the last two he's had some say in, plus this one?
    FIVE WINDOWS?
We are really setting the bar low aren't we
They not .. they had two weeks in the summer and this one .. everything else had to be agreed through TS ..
Simply not true, Andy Scott was asked at Bromley Addicks, and he took full ownership for last January and last summers transfer windows.
  • Thats a proper signing if we get it over the line. Credit where credits due. Get JCH over the line (though not expecting much there) and a defender and that should see us safe and on the way to building a decent squad for next season.

Coventry would be a fantastic start to putting some long term foundations in place. Would still like a quality winger on top of the oft discussed CB and JCH permanents.
  • A BIG statement if true !!!

and shows as the SMT said last night they might not get everything right all the time but we are in VERY different times to what we have had to deal with over recent times. The offers and level of player has changed dramatically
  • Just had a confirmation message from my West Ham contact, we are going for Coventry, or was it we are going to Coventry….

  • Should Coventry sign he is exactly the sort of quality we need to fill our squad with. In isolation it doesn’t mean much but a couple more at his standard this window and three or four more in the summer plus some astute loans and we’re heading in the right direction. I find it unlikely that we could persuade Conor to put pen to paper unless we were able to sell a vision to him concerning our transfer intentions. Not done yet though.

We haven’t got too many midfielders, I just wanted that to be out there before it’s said.  Our midfield is shite, it’s weaker than the defence (IMO).  But the defence takes all the criticism.

Any midfielder we sign who’s better than what we’ve got is very much welcomed.
We definitely do have too many midfielders. Not saying I disagree on quality, but half our squad will be CMs if we sign Coventry.
I’m not counting the shite I’m only counting the ones good enough for a genuine challenge at promotion.

If there was any doubt over the Coventry rumours, this is Sky’s numero uno for transfers:

Looks like he created a Twitter account back when he was an Arsenal player and just hasn't used it

Hope your right - all the corporate re bullshit I listened to last night is forgiven if they sign some good players
