We're only making loan signings, I read on here. So how long's the loan?

2.5 years with a year option if Plymouth agree.

It just doesn't feel the same without Thomas Sandgaard giving us a gloriously scripted quote in the announcement.

Looks like another good signing though. It's been a good day.

    My Plymouth mate says the following;

very solid defender, mostly plays on the left centre or, in emergency, at left back. Think Championship maybe a bit beyond him but very good for us last season.

Welcome Gillesphreycalifragilisticexpialidocious as some of us on here may end up calling you in the coming months as we spell your name wrong numerous times

There's already a song for him but might need the words up on the big screen.

Let's hope he's not the new Cory Gibbs.
Hmmn … What have you heard 🤔
  • Looks like another very good signing . The leap in quality already from last seasons January window is massive  and the new owners should take a lot of credit.
  • "Return of the Mac, but not the shit one!" Has got to be his song. Welcome.

I’d echo that - I saw him on the left-hand side of a back three at Hull City and he got hauled off early in the second half after being torn to shreds by Jaden Philogene. As said before, appearances suggest he’s a useful player when challenging for promotion at this level.

Dear oh dear so we've signed 2 perms & all of a sudden everything is rosy ? Instead of calling fellow supporters out why not wait & see what happens. Ok we've signed Coventry who I know nothing about but if we flog Dobbo aren't we back in the same position ? We have another injured loan from Man City & the guy from the bottom three wendies who can't get in their first team & a CB from Plymouth who allegedly failed his first fitness test.
Maybe the moaners are waiting to see how things turn out.

So, how do we pronounce his surname  ?
    Is it like Gillespie ?

I wish we could sign a few Matt Smith's. Makes life easier.

Nodded off at about 7pm and missed the signing.

After a deep read into Plymouth forums, social media and being sad enough to watch Plymouth highlight videos, I'm actually quite excited for this signing.

The positivity around him is overwhelming and the only negatives I can find are that he looked a bit out of place at championship level (not our problem) and he's a bit slow so suited to a back 3 where he gets more time. He is giving me Jason Pearce vibes a little bit, moving down a level from a championship winning squad as he was out of place in the championship, experienced player, left footer. The main difference is Gillesphey seems comfortable on the ball and Pearcey was a ball winner.

His passing is really good, they even appeared to have stuck him on corners..

^ around the 1:35 to 1:50 mark you will see him on corner duty and send the ball in the box to grab their match winner. If we sign JCH that could be an interesting weapon

If you check out their forums it's all very positive, the only question marks for me now is the playstyle and fitness. His best football is in that left side of the back 3 and Appleton only knows one formation. Saw a poster mention his groin issue again and on social media.

If he can stay fit and we can utilise him this could be a really top drawer signing.

Welcome to South London Macauley Gillesphey

Just what this side needed a whole new approach with  Gillesphey & the other signings looks like we are getting it
Hopefully there will be one or two more but I am happy with what we have done so far
  • On paper it looks a really good signing - tall, left footed, apparently decent on the ball, and with a good record at this level.

Hope he's fit amd stays fit!

Ohhh I get it, so NOW we can do the wait and see thing? Because that’s what some of us were doing for the last two weeks before the signings but the moaners couldn’t wait to stick the boot in.

Now something positive has happened, it can’t be acknowledged, instead we have to wait to see how it turns out.

Anyone would be mistaken for thinking you’re waiting instead for the next opportunity to be upset…

And he doesn't appear to have a history of making silly errors. Fantastic news.

While our midfield has been weak and ball retention up front poor, the fact we have had to go out and sign a new first choice centre-back is also very telling.

I think this could prove to be a very good upgrade. And I'm excited to see how much stronger Jones is going to look when he's defending on his natural side.

what exactly do you want us to do in the transfer window then? I don't think Messi was available... but even then he would be too old and not tall enough right?
