But that then confirms he has gone? they will want to announce it themselves when they are readyShootersHillGuru said:

Just seen that Shrewsbury have sacked their manager Matt Taylor, after a "poor run" of results.
They're currently on 30 pts (same as us) and since the 1st of November have picked up a total 16 pts. With a bigger club and (supposedly) better players, Appleton has got us 10 pts in that time.
So if Shrewsbury don't think 16pts is acceptable, why the fuck should we be hanging on to a useless twat that can only dream of such highs?
Have we really set the bar this low?34 -

Common denominater is not having the right ownership.MartinCAFC said:I couldn’t care less about the meaningless external noise that will inevitably tell us the club’s a mess etc we’ve had 25 managers whatever it is now since Curbs etc
It’s clear Appleton being appointed was a mistake and the best thing the club can do is accept it hasn’t worked out but make sure they get the next appointment right much in the way it seems they have accepted they got the summer transfer window mostly wrong.
Personally hope they ask Lee Bowyer what it would take to bring him back.
Let's be honest, anybody decent would look at us and think f*** that.
Coupled with anybody decent will need to be paid wages a lot more than Holden and Appleton were receiving.
They are in the s***, and know it, they will have to shell out to get us out of this mess.1 -
No comment would to me at least show something was happening. A denial is just that a denial.mattinfinland said:

They sacked Holden, publicly scrambled for a new manager, were rejected by the first three candidates and settled on Appleton. They aren’t going to make the same optics mistake again!1

Been speaking to a few Blackpool fans on Twitter and it sounds pretty identical in terms of what's gone for Appleton here as up there.1 -
They wouldn't, but they also wouldn't be likely to confirm it wasn't true. They'd just say nothing.curlywantstotango said:Tbh why would they confirm to anyone if it is true before they announce it0 -

Once they line someone up he’s gone imo. Just a sound bite from the club to lower the noise.14

I think the club can't say a manager has been sacked if that hasn't happened yet. That isn't to say it won't happen. I think we should wait and see but Reams is a relaible source as far as I am concerened. A no comment is basically confirmation he has been sacked so if it is a process then they can't answer it in any other way than they have.2

I don't think our owners are great, but we've just spent fees on three players in the January window. There will be a lot of managers at this level who have never had that before and may never get that chance again.ElfsborgAddick said:

That brings the total number of players who cost money in our squad to eight if I'm counting correctly: Edmond-Green, Gillesphey, Fraser, Coventry, DJ, May, Aneke, Taylor, and we bought out Kirk's contract.
Again, you can look at that list and see the problems in it, and therein lies the big problem, but the money being spent is relatively unique at this level. And I think there's a lot of room for easy improvement with this team, and then you'd be hoping the board brings in a couple of big signings in the summer (JCH). And if I'm a manager in thinking that enough players coming down from the Championship and anyone can get Charlton promoted and I just need to be in the right place at the right time.0 -
This. It takes 5 minutes to draft a statement on a managerial sacking, they're very short. If he was going he'd be gone.J BLOCK said:

I was told Apples was given 2 month rolling contract..
Saves a big off if sacked..2 -
I don't know if the stats back it up, but my perception is that the majority of promotions from League One are won by managers in their first job or certainly still earlier in their careers. If managers are any good, they might start at this level but they don't stay here for long. To win promotion from this league you need players capable of playing the Championship. I think you also need a manager/coach capable of managing in the Championship. Nothing in Appleton's record suggests he is, or ever was, good enough for that level so his appointment never made sense from day one.
If we're getting rid of him then in my opinion we should not be looking at well-known names, unless we can somehow tempt someone down to this level who you would really expect to be managing higher. That would be a very tough sell, so our chances of attracting a good enough manager to get us promoted are probably improved if we look for bright and ambitious young coach taking their first steps in management. The added wrinkle for us is we have rarely done well with managers with no previous connection to the club. Northerners don't seem to fair well down here either (Jimmy Seed aside).
I don't know who to suggest, I just don't know enough about what is going on at other clubs, but, for me, that is the general profile of manager we need to be finding. I'm hesitant on Bowyer and Powell. Bowyer could be a good fit for the squad, but will he work well with Andy Scott and head coach not manager structure? Same perhaps goes for Powell plus I'm not sure he would want to set up in a way that suits the squad we currently have.2 -
He's probably asleepnagAddick said:@DubaiCAFC have u heard anything last few hours ?1 -
