Can't think what made me think of this song.

The game is simple. 

Listen to both versions of the same song with out prejudice and then say which is best and why.

The 1971 soulful original with a slice of funk from the Supremes v the 1987 pop cover complete with 80s drum machine by Bananarama

    I prefer the Bananarama one and it’s the one I’ll ask GolfieJnr to play at Jones’s first game in charge. Normally like The Supremes but not one of their best in my opinion.

    The Supremes' original sounds like a theme tune to a shite 1970's US detective show.

    Surprisingly, the Bananarama version. I find the Supremes version a bit lifeless.

    What a borning song. Supremes post Diana Ross were a bit shit. The phasing in the original is my favourite part.

    I sound mixed Bananarams first gig. Still have the tape. Took them to the pub and it was mayhem, and that was before they were famous! Forest Gump of pop me.

    It didn't help that stick insect and Motown boss Berry Gordy were an item and all the resources were focussed on her.
    The other girls were talented singers and deserved better, but did come up with a few hits including Stoned Love, Nathan Jones, Automatically Sunshine and Floy Joy

    Prefer the vocal on the Supremes one, as it's got a bit more character to it, but not so keen on the orchestration, as it's VERY dated.

    Haha totally agree stick insect with a screechy voice. Just slightly off topic,  Brenda Holloway was a 1000 times more talented than the stick & had more respect for herself. Gordy was chasing Brenda & she refused to play ball so he went after the stick who happily dropped her knickers while Gordy effectively killed Brenda's career. While she had a few minor hits & a couple of albums released they were never really promoted. She spent a huge amount of time in the studios recording tracks that were never released (effectively owing motown thousands for studio recording time but they were never going to get it) Only in the last 20 years have lots of her unreleased tracks finally seen the light of day on various CDs.
