Got to feel for Reading, this is taking the piss. 75k for a player who has a marker value of over a million..5 -
Might not be morally right, but I’d like us to go for a couple of Reading players.
At the end of the day, we need to survive and if that means signing a player or two from Reading who are just below us, so be it.
Smith would improve us and weaken them, helping our chance of survival.
I am a Charlton supporter, not Reading. It’s not nice to see any club in any trouble, as we all well know!
But I’m not here for the “you can’t sign their players because they’re struggling and going through it”. No. If they’re a player who will improve us and we can sign them, you do it no matter who they play for.44 -

I think Methven talked about it on his podcast and made the point that if we don’t another club will.3 -
Reading would do the same to us if the roles were reversed.29

I liked the look of Azzeez.2

Sam Smith, Harvey Knibbs and Femi Azeez would all be very good signings, we should be jumping at the chance to sign them below market value2

Point still stands though, it wasn't Bournemouth's fault we sold them Kermorgant cheaply, or Liverpool's with Gomez, or Birmingham when they got Morrison for free.
Or the fault of any of the clubs who've got a free transfer from us like Sarr, Bauer etc because we were in too much of a mess to be a decent club to stay at.
I feel sorry for Reading fans, but if they're being sold cheaply anyway then we're not being noble by not taking a look, we're being naive.9 -

Knibbs and Azeez both wingers aren't they? Haven't we set ourselves up with no wingers, not sure they will be considered.
Smith is decent and if cheap is certainly worth picking up, as Sage says he would improve us and weaken them.
Vickers is the jewel of their squad, not necessarily for the short term but certainly another Peterborough type signing - kid with a very high ceiling.
Tyler Bindon maybe worth a punt if cheap.
The issue is Reading will want as much cash upfront as possible where I get the impression our larger outgoings are trying to be structured by little upfront and large sell on clauses.1 -
The next 37 hrs and 37 minutes will be crucial.13

Oh
So the next 37 hours and 30 minutes will be interesting, but not crucial.19 -

But it does assume the Reading player would want to move from one unstable club to another? Also, one relegation battle to another.
A bit like JCH, our bid might be accepted but it could be a waste of time and effort.2 -

Beat Reading and Lincoln, which we really should with a new manager bounce and lift in confidence and we should be looking okay to start planning and building for next season. Lose to Reading and we should be very very worried.9 -
It seems we're focusing on the definition of 'unstable' and applying it to the same depths of Reading. I would say we are unstable in the sense that this current Ownership is likely to fail and its details are not firmly established. You could also say our Managerial situation is rather unstable and has been for some time. We also have a Broker, who is just the broker one minute, but then a part owner the next.
In fact the theme of Airman's article could be deemed to be the lack of stability, even with the current regime.
Personal view, not here for a 4 page ding dong.3 -

I am pretty sure Methven will forgive me given his Theology degree and obsession for Oxford United.
Here is a question floated by several, but not yet answered. How much money per month or per year, including expenses, do Methven, Rodwell, Scott, Warrick, Leneghan, Eliot (and any other obvious ones I have forgotten) get out of the club, and does it represent good value for our legion of billionaire owners, or will we wake up one day deep in debt without the VAT and other taxes paid?
Did methven actually invest anything ? I thought he was gifted 5% as payment for "putting the deal together" ?1 -
