Do the decision makers really want to be questioned on their own performance?
I believe they genuinely want a higher profile/calibre of manager.
But higher profile/calibre managers come at a higher cost and with higher demands.
I'd still prefer Duff but he's not been mentioned much. Maybe he was never on the short list or said "no" early on.
But I'd be more than happy with Jones. It's a risk as we might get Saints Jones rather than Hatter Jones but I've wanted him as boss ever since he was our U21s coach.

I feel it won’t be any of the names mentioned, just a guess but can’t see us getting Jones over the line (hope I’m wrong).1

Post from Cawley saying Jones has now met the owners , Warnock still an option, Board split on longer term Vs short term appointment4 -
Cawley said not much info coming from Charlton but believes Warnock is still a contender0

Post from Cawley saying Jones has now met the owners , Warnock still an option, Board split on longer term Vs short term appointmentDon’t see the point in a short term option, unless the board are really fearful that we are going to go down this year and don’t want a big contract on the books.
Otherwise get the man in that you’re going to back now, and let him have the rest of this season to get whatever he needs in place.
The landscape of manager available will no doubt change by the summer. Could be some better candidates, could be some worse. I wouldn’t be willing to risk that when there is seemingly good options available now.12 -
Warnock still my first choice, 18 month contract, would 100% keep us up and his record at promotions cannot be beaten so give him a go at it next season.14

Have a feeling today could be a brilliant day!!1

This this this ^ there's no point in mucking around with the likes of Warnock for 3 months if there's better long term candidates available. Back the manager you really want now and let's not be sitting here in June trying to appoint another manager with the likes of Jones,Duff, Eustace all off the board because they went elsewhere.7 -

(I don't think any manager would be happy to do it until next summer, as imagine getting promotion to be told you aren't wanted anymore).0 -
Embarrassing, a week and a half later after sacking a manager who should’ve been sacked long before then, not only have we not decided on a manager, we’ve not even decided on the type of manager we want!!!19

So we end up in the summer with the managerial carousel still spinning5

Jones would have my full support but Warnock is a superior manager in my opinion, I just want the best person in the dugout.0

Clearly were waiting for Jones to be in London yesterday then. Any appointment definitely won’t be taking the Derby game so I just hope we get them in in time for training on Monday. Oh and let them bring an assistant in straight away too6

Need to stop this managerial merry go round.
If they don't think a manager can both keep us up AND build long term success then don't appoint them.

Warnock linked with Aberdeen this morning.1

Is this what the power of 4 promotes does?4 -
I'm hoping that prospective manager(s) meeting the owners means that we're trying to land a decent one, someone who wants to get an owners take on ambition, money and forward thinking to help them assess the opportunity.1

The guy completely fluked a result at Blackpool (where we should have been 4-0 down at HT) and is now the messiah.3 -
If they don't believe Warnock can get us promoted then they need their heads checked, a good manager is a good manager no matter his age.
It's a good position to be in though if those are the main two serious candidates.0 -
Just don’t see the point in a short term appointment. Doesn’t make any sense. Any manager should they get should be good enough for survival and we need to build not just jump from one transfer window to the next.10

Good on the main investors for getting involved in this appointment of a third manager this season! I defy anyone out there to keep funding a constant churn of managers willy nilly. So don’t be embarrassed that it’s taking time it was always going to be likely and furthermore the new appointee was never going to be in charge for the game this Saturday once we’d got midway through the week. The caretakers didn’t do too bad a job last time out so I’m sure they’ll have the team well prepared WIOTOS.4

18 months for us IS long term
And 6 months seems standard bases on our last 5 hires!3 -

I’ve backed Warnock at 8/1 based on your tip off.
If it ends up that you’ve made this up then I’m coming for you, @LouisMend & everyone associated with the SLP. 🙂0
