Got to love Curtis Fleming. His latest interview just posted on the OS is a gem. He also alludes to a new coach coming in.
I hope Jones finds a role for him. He’s the sort we used to build this club on.8 -
Good appointment to be fair. Was hoping you’d end up with Holloway lol60

All Jones will have to do this year is keep us in League One. Then we build and set our sights higher, much higher, next season.16

And a few months later they will take the last train to the coast (proper Charlton 😃)2 -

Hopefully, we could do with some divine intervention...🤷♂️0 -

The Red Robin said:Jones is inheriting a similar situation to the one Powell did in 2011. A mixed playing squad, largely full of players he may not want to keep around for next season and maybe can’t play the way he’ll want them too. Let’s be patient and not get on his back. The rest of this season is a free hit. Keep
us up, build for next season.2 -
Other then maybe the likes of Fraeye all Charlton managers have had support of the fans early, even Appleton was very briefly having his name sung by the Covered End.
We will need a new manager bounce though as a poor start could easily see us heading down to the fourth tier which even if the new team in the dugout was Curbs, Powell & Jackson would struggle to keep any but the rosiest glassed fans happy.0 -
The support base not on forums, you’d imagine, will be very excited by this. Overall feeling on this thread seems positive too. It’s punchy for L1, on paper.I’m concerned that way back in this thread @bobmunro was a firm no, and given the position he held - he would know. (Apologies, Bob if I’ve misinterpreted).I will retain an open mind, we need some stability and a properly supported manager. I really hope this is it with jones. Sensible to keep him out for Derby.0

Its not his fault but we don't have the luxury for him to struggle in the way Powell did until he got his own players in though.
Jones will have to turn the current squad around to secure us staying up.1 -

I'll call it the right manager but wrong time.
We're severely in the brown stuff and am not sure he is a Warnock type to grab people by the scruff of the neck.
I can see us going down then it will be interesting to see how things develop. I reckon he'll have a clause reading left by mutual consent should we drop.1 -

Deep down I don't really fear we are getting relegated but we do need Jones to have at the very least an average start to his time here.
Hopefully Fleming hands things over with an additional three points on the board though.0 -
Was Jones approached or did he apply for the position?0
-
I assume Jones is a vegetarian given thou shalt not kill and all that.2

Funny how it's perfectly fine to poke fun at Christianity.
Reckon it best to move on from his faith, whatever it may be.78 -
It will be great to get this over the line. I think it does call in to question just how accurate some of the 'sources' are away from this site because to be honest there have been holes left, right and centre on what people have been posting and what happens.
Either way we need instant results or we are gone. We need to get the stands rocking from the get go, and if NJ (or anyone for that matter) can help to heal the club, it will go a long way to getting us safe this year.
We wont stay up with the current feeling at the stadium on matchday, and as I have always said, it is just as important to heal that as it is to work on processes at the training ground.
Naturally one can lead to the other, but we dont have the time for implementing processes that may take a while to get working. So this needs to be a instant resuscitation to get us breathing again and ready for the fight ahead.3 -
