Yann Kermorgant - making an appearance at Lincoln (H) on Sat 5th April (p30)

Never ever forget what Meire did to our club.22

Everyone needs to relax a little - the amount of god worship of Yann is a little bit overboard. He was excellent for us but he was here less than 3 years and I think nostalgia is exaggerating what he actually was. From the comments on here, you would have thought he was Messi and had played at the club for 10 years.13

Kermorgant gave everything whilst he was here. He was skilful as well as happy to get stuck in. He brought a bit of pride back to supporting Charlton under Powell
He was a true legend.

Probably would have happily retired with us if it wasn't for Meire. A true one of a kind player in terms of his skillset too , someone that would happily mix it and win flick ons and then produce moments of magic7 -

he was a class act, no question about it -promotion teams are always great to look back on and bring back the nostalgic emotion - he was the talisman of that team, along with powell and jackson - charlton legends all 3 and very nearly up there with curbs, kinsella and mendonca - the bowyer and Lawrence teams were also great - lets hope we have some more soon and put an end to this misery7

Bit of fanciful thinking maybe but someone at Bournemouth (possibly Eddie Howe?) saw how Yann played for Charlton in the first away game of the season at Bournemouth in August 2013 I think it was - when he scored that spectacular acrobatic goal - and logged Yann as a future purchase.
If so, then this says all there is to say if - hypothetical again - the self-appointed football 'experts' of Duchatelet and Meire (aided and abetted and perhaps unduly influenced in this instance by the loathsome video assistant scout Thomas Driesen) decided that Yann was not worth the money.
Of all the erroneous player decisions, arrivals and departures, forced upon the various managers under the 'Regime' this could arguably be considered the worst and, as a previous poster has mentioned, could be seen as a sliding doors moment in the subsequent fortunes of Charlton and Bournemouth.
Just writing this now starts to bring the whole sad sickening episode back to life.
I doubt that any player returning to score against us at The Valley, as Yann did with Reading, will ever receive the love from the Covered End that Yann received that day!
If anyone tells me that 'I should have moved on by now' all I can say is - you probably didn't see him play for Charlton.
but I will finish by posting COYR.

Yes a terrible decision. I still say that I was the first public speaking protester of that regime at the meeting with Meire and Powell a couple of days before the Sheffield quarter final, after which Powell got sacked.
I raged at her for selling Yann, a club talisman to a smaller club. Murray sneered back that they were now run by a Russian Oligarch, whilst Meire advised that this was Roland 's club and we had to allow him to run it his way.
Unbelievably I got heckled by the former fans Director, Barry the grocer, for sounding ungrateful about the takeover!
My avatar is from that fateful meeting. The only positive out of it was meeting @Covered End that evening. A couple of years later we're on the coach to St Truiden protesting against the mad Belgium.7 - Sponsored links:

Let’s not forget they also outed the much admired favourite Michael Morrison as well.
Tore out the spine and heart of the team in one foul swoop
BASTARDS!!!!!😡😡😡😡😡
I always thought there was an element of Duchatalet and Meire letting everyone at the club and on the terraces by putting down a marker indicating who was in charge…pathetic.9 -
Did anyone know that Kazenga Lualua is his brother in law?6

Cult legend. What a player. Would give anything to have 2011 Yann back, even if it was just for one season.16

Possibly, because of the 4 lost years to Leukemia from 14-18, Yann's career was a slow burner.
The best part of his career was from 30 to 35 which is very unusual in Pro football.
Kermorgant signed for Cafc when just two months short of his 30's birthday.
The usual suspects would've been underwhelmed on CL !
Yann was settled at Charlton and he and his wife were enjoying living in Greenwich; he was 32 but the lost years gave an edge and an attitude which was 'Je ne sais quoi' if you pardon my French.
Eddie Howe managed to utilise Yann's ability on the ground as a 10 with the legs running around him and Wilson scoring for fun as the number 9 in their Championship winning team. The masterclass at the valley will stick in my mind for ever; shame it was against Cafc !
The decision by RD and his muse, Meire not to offer the length and contract that the fans favourite desired was one of the worse decisions made as Kermorgant rammed that down their throats while playing for Bournemouth and Reading.
We were robbed of 3 years of quality Yann Kermorgant.
The Charlton fan base wanted Roland Duchatelet and Katrien Meire to Fuck off;
If you pardon my French!

If Yann had scored his audacious panenka pen in the playoff final his career in England may have continued in the Championship or Premier with Leicester the following season. (Depending on the outcome of shootout if Yann had scored )
Just like with Jones coming to Cafc in League 1 after a couple of "failures" higher up the leagues then we were fortunate that Chris Powell was assistant to Pearson at Leicester and would've been the guy who put a shoulder around Yann when Leicester fans were full of opprobrium for him.

Arseholes of the first order……I loath them to this day.27 -

Why Mick Gebbert decided to say you were out of order and pretty much apologised to Meire was a real headscratcher3 -
