  • The guy is a poser in a flash car with a tendency to fall over when tackled, we tried to buy out his contract when we hit the skids financially and he chose to play in obscurity and collect his dosh rather than demonstrate his faith in his own ability and find a new employer. A prime example of what's wrong with football today.

[cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]We're in the Third Division now, and if it wasn't for the £250k payment trigger - he'd no doubt be included in the 1st team squad?

I just had the mindlessly banal impulse to check his profile on the OS. Guess what, this flying winger checks in at a hefty13st 4lbs(84Kg) - despite barely reaching 5' 8" (1.73m) ...........!

  • I do not have any animosity to the bloke but if I was in his situation I would be off, pay cut or not. We would I am sure be delighted to give him a free and he could prob get a small signing on fee and decent wage elsewhere instead of wasting some ofthe best years of his life doing didly squat. As a bloke who would have loved to have been a professional footballer I really can't begin to understand the likes of him who must have the talent to play at a professional level but instead is happy to sit it out without even a squad number at his club. To me, a choice of money or happiness is an easy choice...and rarely do they go hand in hand!

Fergie knows talent when he sees it. Perhaps Christiansen will move to Man U, and become the new Ronaldo .....?
    Or Ralph Milne.

    ...........

When you've won the European Cup twice, the EPL a dozen or so times, the FA Cup etc I supposed you are allowed the odd WTF was he thinking when he bought him?

Even stranger is that Fergie is renowned for doing a lot of the scouting work himself and not taking the word of agents/scouts etc which I suspect is what we did with MC.

CHRISTIANSEN does have a squad number at Charlton. According to the OS he is number 30.

Actually Ralph Milne (during that era that is) did quite well for Man Utd.
  • "If I had an outstanding failure then it was Ralph Milne. He should have been playing in World Cups. He should have won a bundle of Scotland international honours. It was a tragedy that that boy was not playing for his country all the time. He had tremendous talent - and I failed with him. He did not have the right attitude to the game and I could not instil that into him." - Jim McLean.

Oggy I was astounded by that weight yesterday, but it appears a few minor players are listed as the exact same weight. So I guess it's just a piss take or a default setting.

Talk to any Man U fan of that era and they'll say he was truly atrocious. i think he scored a couple of weeks running but that's it.

  • Looking at his wiki page he was signed by Man U for £150k and played 23 times in three seasons for them, naturally one of the few goals he scored for them was against us...

The curious case of Martin Christiansen continues.

I thought: this is an odd move. Rimini is a very small club, maybe the size of Northampton... So, I'm really surprised that they're stumping up cash that nobody else is.

The transfer story: despite it concerning a Danish U21 who hit the national press a few months ago doesn't seem to have been picked up by anyone, which is odd.

So, I had a look on the Rimini Calcio site and they're not admiting to signing him. Couldn't see a news link and he's not listed in their squad. Then I took a look on his agent's site, where he's still listed as a Charlton player. Oddly in one place he's 25 and another, 21. Odd business...

I doubt they are, we're really just getting him off the wage bill. Can't imagine they are paying us or him much at all.

Interesting. What the article appears, to me, to be saying is that they're going to take a look at him.

Still very odd that a microscopic team is signing a player that nobody in the UK (at his level) can afford, but don't seem to be mentioning it anywhere else.

I don't see that anyone is suggesting otherwise, Sco. A transfer - free or fee (and this one will definitely not involve a fee) generally gets reported someplace.
