We sit reasonably close to the singers and all I could hear was
Mumble mumble mumble mumble Daniel Kanu
Mumble mumble mumble mumble Daniel Kanu.

Chim chimini chim chimini chim chim cheroo, who needs Mbappe when we've got Kanu?!
  • Most of our songs are sung at a silly fast speed, and all songs are the same as most other clubs, singers need to up their game and slow it down, and it’s red & white army!

It worked at Cheltenham in a small away end, but these wordy chants don't ever work at home because not enough people know the words and the ground just claps along until they get to the one or two words they can recognise.

The simpler the chant, the more people join in, the better the atmosphere.

May be easier to just rehash the Super Clive chant for Super Daniel Kanu

    Not bad

    3 in the last 5 isn't bad.

What about 3 in the first 30 games.
    What on earth?

Incidentally is his name pronounced Kanu (like the former Arsenal player) or canoe, which seems to be how certain people from the club pronounce it?

I don't recall hearing the Kanu song at all at Cheltenham, it never caught on down my end of the terrace!

    Brave. That's dreadful.
I know, but they’re all old guys up there (+Braziliance) so I gave him a lil smile anyway…
33 in a couple of months mate, well on my way 😂

I like the Kanu chant, it's fun and he seems to like it.

In regards to lyrics not being entirely accurate. I've only ever had a season ticket in the North West Upper or the West Stand, yet I still belt out Valley Floyd Road and the part about being in the Covered End Choir..

My logic is, as long as everyone is making some noise, it's better than no noise. It's hard to make a decent, original song and then get people to sing it with you

Ah come on, we're allowed a bit of poetic licence in our chants, if it helps spur the players on. I dunno, next you'll be complaining that we aren't "by far the greatest team the world has ever seen"

    [Incoherent lyrics] Kanu (clap, clap),
    [Incoherant lyrics] Kanu (clap, clap),
[Incoherant lyrics] Kanu (clap, clap) [Incoherant lyrics],
    Kanu (clap, clap) [Incoherant lyrics]!
  • I think we should follow the lead of Beyoncé, get ahead of the curve and go for a country and western themed tune, maybe include a line or two with a step to the right and a step to the left etc so the fans can dance along to it at the same time.

Actually quite like the ATCQ one but can you imagine trying to get all of the covered end in time for that? Would be so messy

Rethinking the lyrics more in the spirit of the original -

    I'm a Kanu,
    I'm a Kanu
I k-now the way to score a goal or two

    I'm a Kanu,
    How do you do?
Scoring goals for fun is what I like to do.

    I'm a Kanu
    Spelt K A N U
K-Nat Jones is great but Appleton was poo

    I'm not an idle blackguard,
    I'll run until I'm k-nackered!
Oh, Kanu, Kanu, Kanu, I'm a Kanu!!!

Jesus Christ. You're right, let's be as stats-based as we can and sing songs to our players like it's their workplace annual review. 'Saturday night afternoon and I like the way you move, Daniel Kanu. Is currently in decent scoring form but before that has struggled to get himself on the scoresheet as much as we'd like. In mitigation he's only 19 and his first 10 games came last season when he was just 18 and being played too early due to poor squad building. Mostly he appeared from the bench sometimes for just a minute so it's stupid to go by games played anyway but regardless we hope he improves his scoring record at this level and that his recent record is evidence of ongoing improvement rather than temporary good form. DANIEL KANUUUU!'

Yeah, rolls off the tongue that does.

Thing is, the song is very addictive, you find yourself singing it all the time, plus Kanu appears to like it, so for me there is no need to change it.

Oh mate you missed the dance at the discos! My Daughter was 4 when this came out and we heard this in Spain (and did the dance every night) a few weeks before it was released in UK. Knew it was a sure fire hit and the kids loved it. As was "No Limits" by 2unlimited the next year.

    How about

    Row row row your boat
    Gently down the stream
    Merrily merrily merrily merrily
    Kanu plays like a dream.

Professor Harold Bloom is impressed with the play on boat/canoe aspect of this lyric.

This was a number one in 1992, 32 years ago, so older than nearly all our players  :D
