As a club, we should stop taking calls and block any emails from Hungary.
If they send over a representative on a plane, all senior management and GD should hide.
Granted, we may be perceived as being childish but we need to play hardball with Fehevar here.
Personally I feel although it's embarassing, if we have to pay to keep him, we should do. If we can get an adequate replacement for cheaper then sure, do it, but if we have to pay a small fee to keep him then I would. It's ludicrous to buy a player you already had, but getting him for a small fee is better than going out and buying someone for 500k when you know what you're getting with Dobbo.1 -

Have you seen his performance in the last 3 games? He's been outstanding.
Suppose it costs £200k or £300k to buy him out of his contract. I just don't see where we would get a similar player for that cost.
Yes it will be embarrassing. And some will have a good laugh. Let them - we will have the final laugh when George goes up to pick up the league winners cup!
the business behind it makes a non viable move.2 -

the business behind it makes a non viable move. The man has signed a contract knowing where it is and for who. He wasn’t forced to sign for them but has.We have no right to believe that this club would roll over and just let him leave for less than his market value.1 -
He’s looking like a better player now that it’s not his job to be as positionally aware as he had to be at the base of the midfield. He’s free to go charging around with the security of Coventry’s presence backing him up.Yes he’s a decent player, better with the ball at his feet than many give credit, but I still think we can do better for similar or cheaper cost than it’ll be to buy out the contract he’s agreed elsewhere.
Whether we will do better is yet to be determined.10 -

We do know that Scott was willing to let him go in January.
We do know that Jones wanted to keep him for the remainder of the season and that Jones wants to keep him for next season.
How that might change Dobson's views on staying or what the contract situation is we don't know.
Personally, I'm not embarrassed in the slightest. Why should I be? I didn't force Dobson out of the door.9 -

I think that is a pretty fair and balanced assessment Callum. Agree on this.0 -
Dobson has signed a pre-contract agreement with a club in Hungary, indicating his intention potentially to join them in the future. How might he end up staying at Charlton? Here's the breakdown:Pre-contract Dynamics: A pre-contract is essentially a precursor to a full contract. It signals Dobson's interest in joining the Hungarian club but doesn't lock him into anything just yet. It's akin to making a reservation at a restaurant—you're expressing your intention to dine there, but you're not committed until you actually show up.Flexibility: The beauty of a pre-contract, from Dobson's perspective, is its flexibility. Until he triggers the full contract by meeting certain conditions—such as passing a medical examination or securing work permits—he's not obligated to leave Charlton. This gives him room to assess his options and potentially reconsider his decision.Negotiation Leverage: Dobson might also use the pre-contract as leverage in negotiations with Charlton or other clubs. If Charlton want to keep him, Charlton might offer him a more attractive contract or playing conditions to convince him to stay. Similarly, other clubs might make counteroffers knowing that Dobson has expressed interest elsewhere.Legal Considerations: It's also worth noting that the language and terms of the pre-contract could play a significant role in Dobson's ability to back out. If there are loopholes, escape clauses or if the terms are vague, he might have more options for exiting the agreement without consequence.Professional Conduct: Of course, it's important for Dobson to handle the situation professionally. While he technically has the freedom to explore other options until he commits to the full contract, it's essential for him to communicate openly and transparently with both Charlton and the Hungarian club to avoid any misunderstandings or conflicts. (And, by extension, "professional communication" could include the decision to prevent (well meaning) blabber-mouths bleating to fans, an hour before kick off at various matches). In essence, while Dobson has signed a pre-contract with a club in Hungary, there are still several avenues through which he could potentially remain at Charlton. Whether through negotiation, leveraging the pre-contract for better terms, or exploiting legal nuances, there's room for Dobson to reassess his options and make the best decision for his career. In conclusion, the specifics of Dobson's situation hinge entirely on the terms outlined in the pre-contract agreement he's signed with the club in Hungary. Without knowing these terms, it's impossible to definitively determine what actions would allow him to remain at Charlton Athletic. However, one thing remains clear: until all the terms of the pre-contract are executed and completed, Dobson remains a Charlton player. He cannot be registered to the club in Hungary or obligated to move until he triggers the full contract by meeting its conditions. Therefore, whether Dobson stays at Charlton or moves to Hungary ultimately depends on the intricacies of the pre-contract and how they unfold in the coming days or weeks. Until then, he retains his status as a Charlton player, with the possibility of exploring other options or negotiating for a continuation of his career with the club.7

I'd rather keep the club captain with a proven track record who works his socks off for the club, whose improved since he joined, and continues to improve under NJ myself. Though whether that is legally or financially viable is probably the bigger question for the club.7 -

Whether we will do better is yet to be determined.Won’t happen though, Jones might kick up a little fuss but Scott would probably rather us go big and buy a new player that Jones wants to keep him happy rather than go back for Dobson with his tail between his legs. I’m pretty certain that Dobson will be off to Hungary2 - Sponsored links:

Astounded if these so called "pre"-contracts don't have a get out clause. Things change so quickly in football

I'm not bound by statistics but they have their place. Dobson is streets clear of anyone else in terms of tackles made and won. He isn't a crab like Semedo or Poyet, he's got a lovely technique and crucially he does everything with intent.
Plenty of shitkickers we could sign granted but none with all the assets Dobson has and a proven fitness record. It will go down as one of the stupidest things the club has done if he ends up leaving.19 -

How many Forints would you like to bet he is still a Charlton player next season? We are at the third place 6 point lead from 4th place, but techincaly 7 point because of the number of the wins. 6 games left.Ferencvaros, and paks are at the semifinal at the cup, so the fourth place will be also european spot.At this week we will play against the second place team, we can able to reduce the deistance to only one point.Ferencvaros will be champion, and there is a chance for a double, so the second place team will go to the Europe league instead of conference league. The contract rules clear, and the contract valid for hungarian, and also uefa law. That is why binding.2 - Sponsored links:

I think Jones will be at the very least on an equal footing to Scott regarding transfers. I also think Jones has the support, authority and of course wherewithal to not play players foisted on him.1 -
I know a good lawyer with football experience from Mancester who can sort out the contract.
Come back Chris Farnell.27 -

I prefer facts to wishful thinking.
I think he will be a loss to our club but I'm confident he can be replaced as long as Jones has a say in who it will be.1 -
