I gave up my season ticket for a bit when I went back to Uni for a year to do a Masters, as the student matchday tickets were very good value, and the academic year didn't match the football year.

Just went to renew our three, not sure I agree with the student policy.

Apparently they have to be a student at the start and end of the season. So when my daughter went to uni in September 2021 she wasn't a student in July 2021 so no discount for 21/22, ok for her second year 22/23, but not now for 23/24 as she won't be a student in May 2025. So a three year uni course gets you one year student season ticket only!
Had exactly the same argument with them ended up telling them to poke renewal of my 3 season tickets.

My grandson is a student now has a valid college pass/id until the end of August. They want the money now, season starts before his pass expires. He will get a new one when he re-enrols in August.

This was the final straw, the people making these decisions are morons, for the sake of £30 they have lost over £500 and 3 supporters, it’s not the money it’s the principle, wankers.
TBH I've only really looked at it this year as my daughter is now over 21, previously she had the U18 rate and then it appears the U21 rate which wasn't much more (if I'm honest due to the VG discount I didn't notice she wasn't on the student rate but U21!).

But it does seem to be one of those 'computer says no' - the chap I spoke to tried to be helpful, although on every question he clearly had to ask someone. Originally it was 'must be the student ID with an expiry date' - when I explained I have that in front of me (Student ID) and it only had a start date from her first year, not an end date, he went away, came back, and suggested they'd accept a letter from the Uni - imagine trying to get that! Only then did we get onto it must have a start and end date that covers the entire season, bonkers.

Not sure that ever applied to the U18 or U21 rate but not 100% sure (actually it didn't as just looked back and my daughter turned 21 in March and had the U21 rate for the whole of last season).

heh ho, CAFC - the gift that keeps on giving - just off to get my Bromley Season tickets (just kidding, just kidding!).

They've obviously changed that start/end rule.  When I did CatJnr a few years back it was just student card valid for the season start (just checked back on the email discussion with the ticket office and I actually got him registered as a 'student' in the April of the season before on the back of an NUS card that expired in the September.  Bought the S/T on that evidence and then supplied Uni card when he enrolled in the October)

Have they changed the Uxx rules too?  You used to get an U18 if your birthday was after the season start - do you now have to be U18 for the whole season?

Not the rules as far as I'm concerned.

We've just renewed our grandchildren's season tickets online where there NO issues...

...but should have been if said rules HAD changed.

Why hasn't something been included in the FAQs on the ticket website to clarify the issue ?

Just bought my first season ticket in about 15 years. I’m giddy like a wee child.

I renewed my daughters ST and she turns 18 next March, paid the £130 (I think?) price.

I did mine over the phone and no questions at all

Renewed using the iPad the other day for dad and myself. Took no more than a minute and VG discount was automatically applied. Not sure why some seem to have so many issues 🤷🏻‍♂️

No, so that we either secure automatic promotion with games to go and enjoy or, failing that, we get to Wembley for the play off final, win it and wish the next match was the following week

  • Bought ones for me and my daughter. Her first one (aged 11) and my first since before she was born.

It feels good to have a season ticket again.

I’m guessing that as there are no figures quoted yet, sales are slow.

I'll have a stab at 7000 sold by the opening home game.

A lot depends on how the recruitment shapes up over the summer, but my optimistic hunch is that we may be up to 8,500 by the start of the season.

If I was buying this year I'd have to wait for the fixtures to be released to see how the new TV deal impacts KO times and dates, I imagine there will be quite a few that don't live near The Valley with the same issue.

Yeah I think with the. Announcing all the live games up to Christmas before the season starts, quite a few people will do that

If I still lived in Dartford etc, apart from thorough disillusionment with L1 football, the proposed 1230 kick off times for a substantial
number of games would have finished me off as a season Ticket holder. My routine was very much 0800 golf, then off to the Valley.  If I was able and had to make a choice now between one or the other then the golf would win. Would become an attendee when time permitted.

Yes, I has similar thoughts cross my mind before I took the season ticket plunge. I guess I just wanted to acknowledge these owners look like they're going to give it a go and to show them in my small way that I'm in! I appreciate the owners and I have some reasons unique to each of us for 'investing' in next season but I'm sure we do have reasons in common too.
I hope the club can find a way to use at least some of the Sky revenue to fashion a CTV offering for the season so those of us who can't/don't get to the Valley regularly can continue to 'invest' in our usual way.
