A bit of a long shot, this one, but those of mature age may remember Brian, who was a Geordie defender/midfielder, who played 13 league games for Charlton in the period 1961 to 1963. He had to retire at 25 after a bad knee injury. Does anybody know what happened to him after his playing days, or where he is now? He is aged 84.

I remember Brian Ord well, a regular in the reserves and a capable left back to stand in if John Hewie was injured or required to play in another position. However, this doesn’t answer your question, @killerjerrylee. I think he ended up at Hillingdon Borough after playing for Charlton. What happened after that is a mystery to me.0

There is a Brian Ord driving school at South Tyneside. Possible relation?0

A Brian Ord (Born 12 March 1939) died in Gateshead Durham in the December quarter of 2005.
I don't know whether or not that is 'our' Brian as, surprisingly, there are a few.0 -
An actual DOB would be very helpful in trying to locate any records pertaining to Brian. Surely the club would have that somewhere ?0

I think Ord is a fairly common north eastern surname. I used to work with someone who had the name. I will message him to see if he knew Brian.0

Thanks guys. All very helpful. Brian was released by Charlton after the 1963-64 season. He had suffered knee problems for a while and had two cartilage operations, but was unable to get back to full fitness. He signed for Hillingdon Borough, but gave up the struggle and hung up his boots in November 1964, aged just 24. I appreciate all the detective work, and LenGlover appears to have tracked down addresses for both Brian and his daughter. I will follow up on this and let you know if I am successful.4

The link is to an old contract of Brian Ord's.
Even allowing for the fact that this was more than 60 years ago the wage is not generous in my opinion.1 -
I got an email from Brian today as a direct result of the help supplied by Lifers. Thanks for all the suggestions to track him down.11
