U17 European Championships

Started today in Cyprus. We're in a group of death with France, Portugal and Spain.

However we've absolutely crushed France in our first game, currently 4-0 up with 10 minutes left.

Mikey Moore of Spurs - @JohnBoyUK will know him well - is being touted as the next big thing in English football. Still only 16 but made a couple of sub appearances for Spurs at the end of the season.

This is his second goal tonight - https://x.com/TheSpursWatch/status/1792982586504921134

    Finished 4-0, very impressive performance.

Moore and Nwaneri (Arsenal) were the stand out players for us.

Good performance, though France did have their moments. I am sure the seedings are on current form and qualifying position, but there are only four former winners of the tournament in Cyprus, That'll be England, France, Portugal and Spain...

I guess if we get through this group then the run to the latter stages becomes easier

That boy is going to be an absolute star.  I have watched quite a bit of the U18s and U21 games this last season and he's the absolute pick of a quite a select bunch now.
Moore (CM/AM) , Jamie Donley (CM/AM), Tyrese Hall (CM), Alfie Dorrington (CB) and Will Lankshear (CF) are all coming through and are pushing to be involved in the first team.  All English too, thankfully.

Moore reminds me of Gazza.  Not hugely tall, low centre of gravity but as strong as an ox.  Two footed, happy playing left, right , down the middle.  You give the ball to him and he makes things happen.  I guess the nearest modern day player you can compare him too is Foden.

I so hope he makes it.  We've had some good prospects over the years and they have never quite fulfilled their potential (see Marcus Edwards for example, now at Sporting Lisbon) but everyone seems to be rating him as the best of a generation.

If you're interested, well worth looking at some of his clips on You Tube.

This was another clip from the game last night...

England beat Spain 3-1 last night to book their place in the quarter finals where we face Italy on Thursday. Moore and Nwaneri again amongst the scorers.

Moore is the tournaments top scorer with 4 goals. Serious talent.
