Steve McKenzie goal that night superb - in front of the away end - made Tony Adam’s look like a Donkey that nighttheeenorth said:2-2 at Highbury maybe.5 -
Wembley 1998 was an amazing day, I missed Wembley in 2019 but the St Andrews game was something else. You had to be there, but not many of us were. I went straight from the game and back into work at a City bank as it was the end of the month and I had to run the month end process. I remember stopping down the Old Kent Road to buy a couple of newspapers on my way home about 8am and reading the reports there in black and white made me realise that yes it had actually happened. What a night that was.6

Battle of the bridge must be up there, no mobile phones then, we were kept in so long my mum thought my dad and I must have been in a car crash! those Chelski fans in our end got a right kicking as well! atmosphere was so toxic, think the ref was terrified so gave a pen to them when everyone knew it was outside the box, still f,***k*** great day 😁9

Went to all three games. Such great memories of the replay at St Andrews. We were so outnumbered and it was really hostile before and after the game. Quietly walked back to the car with my brother and mate, heads down. We then did the Del & Rodney celebration as soon as we started the engine and moved off!! Loved that team.6

Yep - 2 games post match I have really been scared, Bridge 88, and St Andrews 87 - Bridge 88 just shades it - Chelsea fans were frothing at the mouth post match - outside Stamford Bridge was very dodgy - loved that day thoughGrovenuts said:Battle of the bridge must be up there, no mobile phones then, we were kept in so long my mum thought my dad and I must have been in a car crash! those Chelski fans in our end got a right kicking as well! atmosphere was so toxic, think the ref was terrified so gave a pen to them when everyone knew it was outside the box, still f,***k*** great day 😁3 -
I went to both the home and away games. At Elland Road we were bombarded by coins thrown by the Leeds Utd fans. A 50p coin caught me flush on the head and I still have the scar on my now bald head! Luckily the coin dropped to my feet and I picked it up. 50p richer I thought. Unfortunately I was on holiday for the St Andrews replay, so never got to go to that memorable match.Lordflashheart said:I was at all the play matches in 87 - Elland Road was scary - St Andrews was a great evening, albeit rather dangerous post match - thankfully I was 16 so I could pretty fast back then !!!2 -

I stupidly went in the shed end with a Chelsea supporter who just started working with me, we were behind the goal front row when miller scored, I was clapping with my eyelids trying to be angry to fit in.
when the final whistle went I was in one of those crushes you used to get where you could pick your feet up and still be moving,
all I could hear was let’s stab a Charlton fan, luckily Billy didn’t give me away and is still one of my best mates,
Great day. Leaburn.1 -

@Friend Or Defoe this one?

Absolutely right. I felt glad to get out alive!theeenorth said:Better by far than the Sunderlands. Proper jeopardy and away at Elland Road was edgy in a way nothing is these days.0 -
I was in the Chelsea area with my Chelsea supporting Brother in Law. At one stage I called out "Come on Lads" and got an elbow in the ribs as he thought I said reds. It was reminiscent of the Jasper Carrot sketch. It was pretty scary being amongst the neanderthals and at the final whistle a female Chelsea supporter stood up and shouted "Cmon let's get those Charlton Cxxxs".CoveredEndAndy said:I stupidly went in the shed end with a Chelsea supporter who just started working with me, we were behind the goal front row when miller scored, I was clapping with my eyelids trying to be angry to fit in.

A game I have not seen mentioned but I have only scanned is the 4-3 win at Villa on the penultimate game of our 1st Prem relegation season. 7 goals, a Rufus shocker, two sending off, Stevie Brown in goal.
Finally thanks for all the memories posted .. I was also at Highbury 2-2 both brilliant goals Macenzie and Mortimer, also Old Trafford and sadly Full Members.0
