Birmingham's pre season...

Their first game under their amazing new manager this afternoon and Alfred's debut.

A home game against Paderborn from the German second tier

It seems their HMS Piss the League didn't get off to a flyer

Brum 0 - SC Paderborn 5

Comments

  • It wasn't at home, it was played in Austria. And in fairness it was their first game of pre-season playing against a side who were playing their 4th game so would be some way ahead in terms of fitness. But obviously not a good result.

Still a kick in the nuts though. Imagine if we’d lost 5 - 0 today

The clubs official Twitter account is a mix of people saying “ who cares. 100 point season upcoming” and others saying “this might be worse than last year”

it’s one thing having loads of fans in the ground but if they turn on the team it becomes very toxic very quickly
  • When they took Alfie off us and our fans were saying on Twitter it was daft to sell to a promotion rivals then Brummies were desperate to queue up to say we wouldn't be rivaling them.  Maybe they were right. Just not quite in the way they imagined. 😂😂

You don’t win trophies in pre season. It’s a marathon not a sprint

I believe they may be in for a rude awakening in this division … I have severe doubts it will be anywhere near as easy as they think

Pre Season all away from Home

    Saltash 5-1
    Exeter 2-1
    Plymouth 3-2
    Swansea 1-0
    Welling 5-1
    Maidstone 3-0
    Brentford 2-1

    7 Wins - 100%

League Season - First 6 games

    Swindon H 1-2 L
    Bristol Rovers A 2-1 L
    Sheffield Wednesday H 0-1 L
    Brighton A 3-2 L
    Oldham A 1-1 D
    Millwall H 0-0 D

Pre Season can hide a lot of weaknesses if the opposition is not good enough and can lead to over confidence into a League Season which as proved with us can bite you on the arse

Just to be clear I am not insinuating they will continue like this I was just pointing out their result because I was checking up on their new signing Fred May

If we lost a friendly 5-0 I think there would be a few squeaky bums wouldn't there

Only just seen they’ve signed Bielik on a new 3 year contract. Has the potential to be far too good for this league but I imagine his injuries must have taken their toll on him. Worse record than our Chuks.

76 games in the last 2 seasons would suggest otherwise .

Bielik’s performance against Luton at home was one of the best midfield displays I’ve ever seen live .

To be fair, you’re right, he played more last year than I’d realised so hopefully his injuries are behind him. Though I would say the player we saw 5 years ago looked like he wouldn’t ever be back in league one so maybe they have taken their toll a bit on his overall quality.

Still, good to see him back playing again, hope he’s rubbish against us.

Sorry, but do we really care about Birmingham games, or is all about an ex- player of ours

That was my favourite performance in recent memory of supporting Charlton.

Birmingham should be wrapping up the £1.3m signing of Hearts’ English left back Alex Cochrane today or tomorrow

should help tighten up their defence
