  • Goes both ways though, if he signs the new deal he will earn probably 3/4x the salary next season and doesn't have the risk of no contract should he get injured or underperform. Worth noting that he is earning absolute peanuts (less than Karoy and Assiimwe) as we originally signed him for our under 21s in January.
Hadn’t heard that he was originally an u21 signing, where did that come from?

Signed as a punt to provide cover for Edun, played a few games for the U21s then got drafted in for Bolton game as Edun was injured, scored and performed well and never left the first team. I don't think any of the recruitment team expected him to play anywhere near as much as he did.

This is what Andy Scott said when he signed: “With it being a short-term deal, it’s an opportunity for him to prove to us that he’s capable of being with us for longer. He gives us more competition on the left-hand side which is an area that we've been looking to add to."
  • Which is exactly what his agent will be telling him.

Or alternatively, he doesn't commit to a long term deal so we go out and get a more experienced (committed) wingback and TS can then sit on his arse for a year getting a handful of games under his belt. If he's on shit wages as has been suggested we could just keep him as backup.

Id like him to sign as he has a lot of potential, but all the hysteria over will he/won't he is getting a bit OTT now.

Good old Andrew, he knows a decent player when he sees one.

Can see this happening very soon if he just fu*ks us about for too long, NJ doesn't seem the type to take any shit...🤷‍♂️

And you’ve just added to it 😉

  • Great video... Looks a great lad as well, can see him being popular this coming season.

This is probably going to come across as really stupid - Its weird because his name is Thierry, I half expect him to be French so its a little strange hearing him with a proper English accent, even though he's... English lol!
  • Hi Thierry, when are you signing a new contract?

No one wants to know anything else.
I think we can read between the lines here. He's playing a higher level next season come what may, so we'd better be too

I don't believe he was brought in to be cover for Edun, or as one for the future, but as genuine competition for him. He wouldn't have terminated his Southampton contract just to be a U21/backup player.

Indeed as we had an option on him for another season, it would have been pointless signing him and then not giving him a chance in the rest of last season, to show how good he was.
  • Alphonso Davies isn't a surprise, but wasn't expecting him to mention Danny Rose as a player he had been following.
  • Got Panamanian heritage, they had a 33 year old who's clubless and a 20 year old that plays reserves MLS in Copa America, maybe he should tap into that and become an international?

Does anyone know if we'll have enough internationals to get those weekends called off this season? Asiimwe, Anderson, Kanu and maybe AMB?
  • He reckons he can take a hippo? I'm hoping this is just a reference to the Roomies chat from the other day, cos otherwise I think we're going to need to ban him from going near any zoos for his own safety.

Hippos are huge and can run at 30mph. Quick through the water too and can stay underwater for long periods. One of the biggest killers of people in Africa. Given they are herbivores so they only kill for defence/fun.

    He couldn't be more wrong

    Surely Minto rather than Pirlo.
Of course 🙄 I was sat at gone midnight unable to sleep struggling to get hippo into a song

consider 50% of the songwriting credits yours mate

Don't mean to be pedantic, but got a feeling Hippos kill a lot more people each year than any of the "big 5" even

He'd be better having a role around with a zebra or something
That stat sounds familiar - I knew they were up there with the scary big cats, but wasn't sure of the exact figures. Having seen that video of how easily they can crush a big pumpkin in their jaws, I dread to think what'd happen to a random limb that got in the way. That said, while he'd have better odds with a zebra, I still wouldn't rate his chances, as they've got a hefty kick on them.
  • Like Ahadme, got a feeling that, given time, he's gonna turn out to be a decent player. Like his attitude and he seem to be popular amongst the other players

Really good cameo today, used his strength well with Aneke to keep the ball in the corner a couple of times and looked defensively solid
Sure but he'd have been toast if Birmingham had subbed on a hippo.
  • I think he has strength and pace and offers offensive width. Yes, he hasn't been brilliant so far but having two backs who we know are stronger and faster than their opponents is surely a real asset. I thought he was very good when he came on yesterday.
