What would you call a decent 24-25 season?

Several years of mediocrity are hard to undo. It’s true of any business and applies to football unless you have a serious amount of money to throw around. A good 24-25 season for me would be in or around the play offs, presence of a good team spirit and the fans on board. That will then hopefully give us the momentum to go up and stay up. It may take a year more.

Top six minimum.11

Top six at least2

Decent season - making the playoffs
Successful season - winning promotion, whatever way we do it
I’ve only seen us get promoted as champions or by winning the playoffs. It’s time we got promoted by finishing 2nd.12 -
For me top 6 but not promoted via playoffs would be decent, that should be our minimum aim every season.
1st: Excellent
2nd: Very good
3rd - 6th (promoted): Good
3rd - 6th: (Not-promoted): Decent
7th - 10th: Meh
11th - 12th: Poor
13th - 20th: Woeful
21st - 24th: Catastrophically bad12 -
Decent - Playoffs but losing in the semis. Think Top 6 has to be the absolute minimum.2

Promotion. Nothing less.12

Anything but promotion is a failure.5

anything outside the top 6 will be a failure
play offs are a lottery, but we must at least be making them2 - Sponsored links:

A decent season is top six. A successful season is getting promoted.
To not get promoted would be disappointing but after three back to back years of abject misery it’d just be nice to be taken seriously again, coupled with clear ambitions to make sure we go up in 25/26 with a squad that can stay up in 26/27.11 -
At the extreme least we have to be competing for the Play-Offs... Even if we don't get the top six, its got to be because of that year where we missed out on Goal Difference to Oxford... Or literally by a handful of points.0

Challenging for the top 6. We have had three season when I don’t think we have even spent one day in the top 6. First step is to actually start competing with the promotion candidates.

Happy to just support the boys and girls, watch good, clean football and may the best team win.
Too much emphasis on winning when it should be about enjoying the game, some nice food and time with friends.
Nah, a DECENT season is top two for the women, top six for the men.
A GOOD season is promotion for both.7 -

Unlike last season this will be a tough League to get out of. An excellent season is 1/2, or play off winners, good season play offs.
At the very least competing throughout the season no lower than 80 -
10th would be decent and is realistic .3

I just don't think we've made enough signings of quality , to get into the top 6 (at the moment).
Lets revisit this thread, when the transfer windows shut, and see who else we have brought in.2 -

top 6 has to be the minimum now0

8th or 10th might be realistic, but for me wouldn't pass the threshold for being 'decent'. Playoffs at minimum, and a genuine run at promotion1
-
7th and below is a disaster7

Playoffs with real intent and something to build on is "decent".
Gut feeling suggests that we'll be another mid table borefest but hopefully wrong and Jones and the new owners can give us some long overdue upwards momentum.1 -
More than anything I just don't want to be depressed the whole time. We'll lose games, we'll lose to people like Mansfield and Shrewsbury and it will be annoying. What I don't want for once is for us to lose to those teams in amongst 4 incredibly dull draws where we pin a win either side of that run to not fall completely into oblivion. I'm tired of us going on 6,7,8 games winless streaks which we've been doing every year since the 19/20 season. We had a 16 game winless run last season, that's just past the point where you can take any enjoyment from the season. I want to go into games thinking that we can get a result and be looking up the table in the week thinking that if we can win this game and that game we will be in a strong promotion position.
Not getting promoted would mean the season wasn't successful but being able to think about Charlton playing week to week and not thinking that it would be better if the sun exploded would be a decent season for me8 -
I think a lot of what I want is a competitive team and spirit. I’d like to enjoy watching us play and not continually feel pissed off because of the lack of desire and commitment.
While I don’t like losing, it feels easier to take, when we’ve given it a right go and it’s clear to see, that common adage, we’ve left everything out on the pitch.
Play Offs would be great, promotion, dreamland.0 -

Top 6 or challenging for top 6 throughout the season would be a huge improvement. I really hope this is what we get, but I have a nagging doubt that we will fall short again. I think we will end up about 10th.0
