Two examples of two sides having drastically different seasons the following year, and proof that you can turn it around in one season.
It's simply an excuse to say where we are now and needing to build etc. We are on 0 points, with 138 points to play for, and a transfer window still open to strengthen.6 -
We have been in this league far too long. Promotion would be a decent season, if not we need to just miss out and be well placed for next season. Anything else is not good enough IMO.0

Based on the signings to date I think top 10 might be achievable. I have not changed my view from a couple of weeks back that top six is unlikely without at least 3 additional signings, all of whom should be starters.
If the club's position is that they need to move some players out before bringing in further additions, there is always the risk of a slow start to the season. Obviously the board and NJ know that, so it's down to them to solve that conundrum.0 -

Let’s get out of this league,it can’t come soon enough now,let’s hope NJ is the man & that he takes us up,so keep around the top 6-8 till Chrimbo then push it on to consolidate play-offs then if we get lucky automatics…so play offs for me…next season Champions if we have NJ still with us…

I think we'll have a realistic view of our prospects by early October. By that point we'll be 10 games in and the new signings will have had ample opportunity to prove themselves. If we're not in the top 6 by that point I will be resigned to another season of managerial comings and going and mediocrity.0

Decent season would be challenging for top six right till the wire. Successful would be gaining promotion. Fwiw I can’t see either playing out.0

I agree with the majority that top six is crucial, but I'd also like to be looking forward to seeing the football EVERY week, which was definitely not the case last season! Good football, playing with desire, plenty of shots (to quote Curbs) and some of the "dark arts" when the situation demands.

Why do people say “top 6”? You might as well finish 15th if you don’t win the lottery of the Play Offs.

Realistically I'd settle for play offs and improvement off the pitch as there is still a long way to go for both and if that goes OK promotion the following year0

Pretty much this with the caveat of that this is one most competitive league one line ups we have seen so I think if say we finish 7th or 8th but have shown great improvement on last year and are least battling for top 6 then I wouldn't say that was meh really thoughDyerConsequences said:For me top 6 but not promoted via playoffs would be decent, that should be our minimum aim every season.
