Good to see him playing and that he got a big round of applause when he came on.

And he said we have the best midfield in the league and could "run away with the league".

Thought Myles Weston looked a tidy player for this league as well.

Neat and tidy performance when he came on, his movement started to make holes in our defence.

''Good to see him playing'' - aye, and even better to see him not scoring!

It was a poor miss, but he was definitely their stand-out player I thought.

Used to go Dartford Grammar School, he was the year below me.
  • From the OS

"Meanwhile, ex-Addicks striker Charlie MacDonald is backing his old side to have a successful season after returning to The Valley with Brentford.

MacDonald, who came through the academy ranks to make 13 senior appearances between 1998 and 2002, stepped off the substitutes' bench for Brentford on Saturday and was impressed by what he saw from his former club, stating: "We won't come up against Charlton every week and it wouldn't surprise me if they're 12 months clear at Christmas.”

Looking back on his time with the Addicks, MacDonald added: "When I was here I took things for granted. I didn't apply myself as I have now. I've seen the other side of the game at non-League and I didn't like what I saw so I've had to take this opportunity with both hands."

I always wondered why he turned down the offer of another year's contract and then ended up in non-league. He was always better than that.

He made his first appearance of the season on sat after a serious injury at the end of last. Hence the warm reaction from his own fans.

Brentford boys in my office reckon we will walk the league, say we were too classy for them.

Don't take the piss, the OS is always right.

So we definitely will be 12 months clear at Christmas. FACT!

I think you give the OS too much credit. It is NOT always right and only a country bumpkin would say that.

However when it comes to transfers and takeover rumours etc a good policy, and one that I follow myself, would be to not believe them until you have seen it on the OS.

What did you make of Sam Wood Henry?

Myself and my brother sang the start of his old Bromley chant to himas he was leaving the pitch after pre-match training which he seemed to enjoy.

    he's not a FB is he? : - )

To be fair Sam is on fire at the moment and being fed by maybe the best midfield in this league so anyone was going to have a hard day.

Only saw him go forward once and that was late on.

Big mistake for first goal and got done again by Sam for the 2nd.

Would like to see how he does out wide.

Country bumpkin? It was while I was living in Bromley for all those years, Henry.

    You'll know what I mean.

One of the clear memories from Charlton's matches over the years is CM's equaliser against Newcastle - terrific strike

Ah, that match when Jon Fortune tucked the untouchable Alan She-rah into his back pocket, and the Geordie whinge-bag got himself sent off. Later appealed, and had the red card rescinded .... TV muppet, how did he get away with that?

Also saw Charlie McDonald score a winner against QPR in the FA Cup, I believe.

I know a few of Sam Saunders friends, he stil goes up Bexleyheath every now and then. Had a chat with him in the Drayman during the summer. He is a year above me at school i think, so would have started in 94. Really nice, down to earth lad.

Although i thought he was pretty quiet against us, i rate him. Scored plenty of golas last year for the daggers and deserves to be where he is.

I left the 6th form there in 2001 so he would have left in 2002 as i'm pretty sure he did 6th form as well.
