Charlton Merchandise Scam: @RedRobinsRetro

There's quite a big Twitter account (@RedRobinsRetro) that sells Charlton Merchandise online. Around 10 weeks ago I purchased a jacket for £65 and was told it would be delivered in 4 to 6 weeks, it's now been 10 weeks and despite every effort to contact the vendor, my Tweets and Emails are ignored.

Has anyone else used this person successfully? At this point, I'd like to get my money back and hopefully warn others from making the same mistake I did.

Selling fake gear. Doesn’t fill me with confidence.

It might be worth getting in touch with the supporters trust, CAST. For reasons that i don't understand they decided to partner with them

  • I'm not sure what happened but they lost use of their twitter account around the time you ordered. They did retweet with a new twitter account so this may be why you haven't been able to contact them. I haven't personally bought from them but know alot of fans have and although the gear can be a little late in delivery, it's normally pretty decent.  Below is their new account
  • Use a payment method where if it goes tits up you’ll have some form of redress would be my advice when dealing with unknown merchants.
  • I ordered mine from a similar company, ccpretro. They all seem to come from Thailand and are replicas - the website I used said 4-6 weeks delivery.

I did buy a jacket from them. The blue Adidas one. I thought I had been done as it didn’t arrive and communication stopped, but eventually I got replies to my various promptings and then the jacket itself turned up. I think the issue is organisation rather than anything more sinister. I recommend polite DMs every few days.
  • If it really is a scam:

Its not a APP scam, unless you're bank transferring, if you're having problems, put the payment into dispute (chargeback) with your bank, or into Section 75 with your credit card company, provide some info, and evidence of trying to reach out and they'll refund you the money.

Enough people do it, it hurts financially for the company involved, as they cost about £15 to process each dispute.

Have you tried emailing their main guy directly?  Might help. He’s on steve.jones@redrobinsretro.com

    👍🏻😉

I have purchased a few things from him. No issues.

I’ve purchased two shirts from them, they are both class great quality and arrived as promised. Not much correspondence though so can see the customer service/ replies side of things being flimsy. But think you’ve just been unlucky/ struggling with that, as it definitely isn’t a scam as such based on my experience.

I agree. From an organisation that aligns itself with the club I find that strange.

Thanks all for the insights, nice to know it’s not a complete scam and more likely a small operation which takes time.

I’ll hold tight for now and keep badgering the vendor for an update.

Yeah that’s the same thing I purchased. Unfortunately their Twitter account isn’t open to DM’s, and their websites contact page is broken.

Quite shoddy but hopefully it turns up.

I got no updates at all about my orders, e-mail or text or twitter of any kind. But both just arrived in the post without warning after a few weeks when I had practically forgotten about them. Agreed it's just probably a basic setup / not a proper business / corp but I think they will send you what you have ordered, and you'll like it!

Does anyone have the contact details for the person behind this account? I contacted CAST and they said this person has ignored all their messages. Interestingly, CAST canceled its partnership with RedRobinRetro due to their failure to deliver products and not fulfill the discount code.

I'm aware I likely won't get my money back, I'm just a bit gobsmacked that a fellow Charlton fan would operate like this. Thanks :)
