MANNION: 5 - nothing he could have done for either goal but almost gift-wrapped another one for Reading in the second half. I know we see goalies dicking about on Match of the Day every week but we do not need to replicate this type of cock up
A.MITCHELL: 6 - did ok in an overworked defence. His distribution is a bit industrial but I guess that fits with the style
JONES: 6 - dominant in the air but bears a major responsibility for the second goal. Not in letting the ball out (regardless of a refereeing error or otherwise) but in standing around and pointlessly arguing the toss whilst the opposition broke on us. A silly dissent booking to compound matters. I have no doubt he’ll bounce back next week
GILLESPHEY: 6.5 - he’s a player I worry about but I thought he was fine. He sees a lot of the ball because he can kick it a long way and has a decent left peg
RAMSAY: 5.5 - below his usual exalted standards. Offered nothing much offensively but a great tackle to save Mannion’s blushes
BERRY: 5 - well off the pace, although the manager says he was ill
COVENTRY: 6 - at least he looks like a footballer, although our set-piece coach has much work to do. Can no one else take a decent free-kick or corner ? 
DOCHERTY: 5 - should have done better with his second half chance. Part of a midfield that was well outplayed by a very decent opposition 
SMALL: 4.5 - seems to lack confidence to take a man on and is starting to look fragile defensively
AHADME: 4 -  his lack of pace is starting to worry me. In mitigation, we are hardly playing to his strengths
T.CAMPBELL: 5 - a poor first touch deprived him of a potential opening on the first half and his game is more about running at players than receiving the ball with his back to goal. A big talent but one we need to resolve how best to deploy
ANDERSON: 5 - following his introduction, he kept up the general trend of passing straight to the opposition 
Referee: 5 - too whistle happy. Managers will be briefing their teams to go down under the very slightest of touches in future games to win soft free kicks. Seemed to be obsessed that Coventry’s corners were within the designated quarter circle by the corner flag. Given the ineptitude of those corners, I’m surprised he bothered

ANEKE:  n/a - a laboured and highly frustrating cameo. Conceding blatant free kicks when a defender is facing his own goal is not a smart play when we are desperate to get back into the game
GODDEN: n/a - I hope he has enough left in the tank to do 90 minutes
