Not that worried we've not signed one woth Mannion being decent so far, but it's the one area we wanted someone during the transfer window and didn't manage to sign one, so was expecting that.2 -

Don’t get what Hylton’s going to add, barely played for Northampton last season in this league and didn’t score many for them the season before in L2.
Sure Jones will want leaders and good older pros, but we’re not short in that area with Campbell and Potts recently joining Docherty, Lloyd Jones, Gillesphey etc.14 -

We have so many strikers, Kanu’s probably going to struggle to make the bench. We also have 2 young guys scoring plenty for the 21s that are probably miles better than Hylton. A very odd and very disappointing signing, there are players out there unattached who would genuinely improve us. Hylton goes against what Jones was saying about those coming in being Categorically better than what we have already3

I suspect Hylton is only here for cover in case we get injuries. He also has an UEFA A Pro Licence so maybe he's going to do some coaching with our current strikers .6

Seems like Jones wants to surround himself with individuals he trusts, and knows will be on board with his methods. Means we've got players through Attack - Midfield - Defence that he's worked with, who can set the standards for those around them.
I did like how Hylton was a proper whingy little shit to Officials during the friendlies - Like Godden, he's one of those trained in the dark arts6 -

I suspect it'll be another deal to January and for the reason you suggest. It is pretty underwhelming, but at the same time any out of contract signing between transfer windows is likely to be a bit m'eh. Anyone exciting will have found a club in the summer. Hopefully he'll be a positive influence in the dressing room who we won't actually have to play much because better players are fit and firing.1 -
