My grandparents visited Germany on holiday after the war, like water to a duck, no 'banter' from either side.

Tbf the teams in our group would put up similar stats against Ireland.2

Under Southgate we learnt how to despatch lower ranked teams in a way that we always should have done prior to him coming along... However when he achieved those results, it was always quickly forgotten how we'd struggle against the likes of Algeria etc. and he was simply doing the minimum.
We just need someone now to beat the Spain's and Italy's in Tournament Finals, but got to get there again first.
I'm not surprised to see revisionism going on already, especially from the media.2 -
What do you feel they're being revisionist about @ForeverAddickted ?0

I also saw comments, not here on CharltonLife as we seem a bit more openminded, but elsewhere complimenting Carsley, saying it was great that we were being a bit more attacking against the Irish yesterday - Whilst forgetting performances like what we achieved in past Qualifying Groups.
The Media themselves acting like we were a defensive team under Southgate, barely creating any chances whenever we played, and have focused on the Group Stages of Euro 2024, almost as if that was what we were like under his entire reign... Why don't they show us three tables, how we did at Euro 2024 under Southgate, how we did the other 90+ games, and how we've looked under Carsley after one game?
Our performance under Southgate at Euro 2024, after all was the exception under his reign.4 -

If Carsley gets the job then it will be a very interesting few years. I'm not feeling more or less confident but I'm interested to see what an England side can do when they're more forward thinking.1 -

As Qualifying we've always been strong, if not stronger under Southgate, and that was no different yesterday under Carsley.
As you may know... I was always one to back Southgate, and whilst I wont pine for him now he's gone.. I have been a backer for Carsley getting the job (even before Souhtgate left, and was glad he turned down the Ireland job), so whilst like you, I'm not feeling more / less confident... I am more interested in seeing how Lee does, compared to other (non-Klopp / Pep) options.1 -
As Ive mentioned here before my mum is Irish, she hates all the England sports teams but has lived a happy life here. It's more about the media hype and entitlement of the fans (her perception of those anyways) thats the root of it. Not the politics or past wrongs.0

I see what you're saying about separating out the qualifiers and the tournaments. We never really struggled in the qualifiers under Southgate either.1
