    Driving up; any pub recommendations?

    In town I’d recommend
The Tap n Can to try out a great range of Beers.
The Salopian - for football on screens or The Shrewsbury Hotel.
For old style Shrewsbury pubs with decent ale I’d recommend The Benbow , Henry Tudor House Coach n Horses. For a juke box n decent local vibe n  pub garden  - The Nags Head . For Riverside views   Outdoor seating if it’s sunny The Boat Inn.

Dough n Oil  does great Pizzas !  The indoor market for street food .

Closer to the ground The Brooklands Hotel n Charles Darwin.

Sounds like a good selection there; thanks. I hoping for a nice day and a seat in the garden at The Boathouse

Going to be a long journey on the club coach for the Larkfield lot.
they brought all the pick ups forward due to lack of people.

  • A poor turnout, not sure why?

It’s more than we currently took there last September (556) and we still have 2/3 more days yet for people to make their minds up

    it's a bloody trek
we've played there plenty of times in recent years
    more people can/will stream
  • I think 638 is decent, will probably be over 700 on the day.

This is going to be my 5th trip there, imagine it might be the same for some people, even more probably.

I'm only going mainly cause one of my close friends lives in Shrewsbury and I'll make a weekend of it, otherwise the TV option would be very tempting tbh. Ain't a cheap away day, and it's not a very good one either.

First away game of the season for me. Only really going to tick off the ground as I haven’t been since Gay Meadows days.

And doing that makes it even less appealing for people to then get the coach if you're spending 1hr+ going through all the pick up points before you even get anywhere.

2 hours on the coach before you even set off for Shrewsbury is absolutely ridiculous tbh.

I'd love to get the coach to save some £s and the social aspect to it, but the pick up times and lack of freedom put me right off.

    It's really not.

Spent a week up in Bridgnorth earlier
this year - not that far from Shrewsbury - and it was a blooming long trek up there, especially given the state of our roads.

Fair play to those who are going.
  • Wigan is about 50 miles further and we managed a reasonable 900 ish there and that was live on sky
we've had a reasonable start so i'd have expected a bit more

It's funny but had it been Gay Meadow I might have been tempted.

I used to love away days there.

Huge credit to everyone going to this one, we’ve played them so often and been so hit and miss there too.

But really think we could turn it on this weekend and those fans who make it get the reward.

  • Hope so, Sage.

We're making the trip this season.

Wigan is a lot quicker by train though.

Shrewsbury is a lot quicker by road than Wigan

and 3pm has got to be more preferable than 5.30pm kick off

what’s the split road / train to away games outside the Home Counties
