Well Coventry has been consistently very good so far in much more competitive matches. He puts his foot in more, presses quicker and covers more ground. Neither Doherty nor Berry have pulled up trees so far. Anderson serves a purpose but his technically lacking. I wonder if there's space for Taylor and Coventry to free up space for another striker.Talal said:

Agreed, I'd like to see Taylor and Coventry together in midfield. I'd be looking at dropping Berry, just don't think he's offered enough so far and may be more impactful from the bench with his goal record.Talal said:

We can't ignore our woeful set pieces this season and most of last season, Taylor solves that problem, and he looks a pretty robust player to go with it too.5 -
Balance would be all off though. Both of them like to play short passes with the intention of setting others off, if you play them both they’ll naturally sit deep so passing options will be limited.Braziliance said:

Docherty covers a lot of ground, and key to our press further up the field, I am not sure Coventry and Taylor are suited to that. I was very impressed with him last night, stood out above Campbell. I would like to see Taylor given a chance, but where in this team, and what role I am not so sure!Talal said:

Coventry covers much more of the pitch and is a bit more combative for me.
Thought Cambridge waltzed past Taylor on a couple of occasions1 -
But you could play TC, Leaburn/Ahadme and Kanu up front rotating and you wouldn't lose the pressing ability. It would give us more potency going forward too.DubaiCAFC said:

I like Terry, offers decent cover for Coventry. CC has a little more technically in terms of forward passing.3

Agreed, he's definitely good enough to be cover for Coventry but won't be replacing him any time soon. He does look pretty good but Coventry looks better. Unfortunately that's how it goes sometimes in football.Ferryman said:He did OK but not a performance to justify knocking on the managers door.

Taylor and Coventry are very similar but that doesn't mean they can't play together.
As much as he faded, it was inevitable he would be slightly rusty so that's to be expected. I loved some of his dead-ball delivery and his availability and quick -passing did catch the eye
Taylor has definitely not been given enough of a chance with us and probably deserves to get more opportunities when the games come thick and fast over winter. It will almost be like having a new signing.17 -
I thought there were a lot of neat and clever passes, both short and long. He also seems to be very mobile, until he understandably tired, I think there is a role for him and he shouldn't be frozen out. If we are playing a high intensity pressing game fresh legs in the 67min sub switch could be useful. This is the key thing for me. If we had 9 subs on the bench like the PL then he'd definitely be there but NJ likes to have 3 forwards on the bench with one midfielder, two defenders and a keeper. Hard to ignore that a side like Shrewsbury had the ball more than us and looked more tidy in possession. Of course we can say it's a deliberate strategy, but I still think we lack players with the natural ability to be good on the ball. Taylor has that.
I also don't think Taylor and Coventry are that similar at all, other than their physical stature and being defensive minded centre mids. Same as the Dobson and Coventry comparisons, they weren't really alike at all either other than both playing in midfield.
Coventry looks to Intercept and keep the game ticking, Taylor strikes me as someone who will look to open the game up with a pass. I'd like to see them both play alongside eachother with Docherty ahead. I just think Berry has been a bit too anonymous for my liking.
Our biggest weakness this season so far for me has been that midfield, it's highly unlikely we can go a whole season giving up the ball to every side. At the very least we should be dominating teams who will be down the bottom of the table.
We arguably looked the most comfortable I've seen us last night, if it wasn't for Andersons mistakes, they didn't look near us. I put a lot of that down to Taylor, be bossed it.

He probably does need a couple of injuries to happen to get on there - Imagine Edun is preferred because of his versatility (Given previous match squads), not to mention him, and Anderson for example weren't even on the bench either on Saturday... Both have flashes of being able to drive forward but I actually think the issue is about the spaces and passes available to them. Structurally something is a bit off about how me move on the ball. Fen - that’s true. I stand corrected . I still think having two midfielders in reserve would be more balanced.1
