It’s just so frustrating that despite having a far bigger budget & resources, we still can’t get the better of minnows like Stevenage!
We had a guaranteed 20+ goal a season striker on our books but we pushed him out & brought in Ahadme (that surely any scout could have seen has zero quality, if they’d bothered to watch him for 3 or more games).
We also had a solid captain but our Head of Recruitment didn’t rate him so we let him go & replaced him with Captain Invisible who has been equally as disappointing.
Surely one year we have to get it right. It’s just f*ck up after f*ck up every year at the moment.

Not saying everything is OK or no reason to complain but we're Charlton, we can check out but we can never leave6

I don’t plan to Henry. Just had high hopes for NJ this season & it so far feels little different to most other seasons.
Unless Leaburn can hit the ground running and/or Dixon turns out to be the next JRS, I can’t see us doing anything (AGAIN) this year….& let’s face it, league one football is a depressing / challenging watch!0 -

My oldest son is 21 and his first game was a 1-0 home win against Man City( Darren Bent goal ) in our last season in the prem . He was only five or six , Since then he’s only ever known glory when we won at Wembley ( what a day ! ) and he barely remembers the Powell promotion year .I’m so proud of him that he’s stuck being a Charlton supporter in an area full of Gooners and Spurs Supporters.Today on the way home he asked me if he will ever see Charlton do well and I had to explain to him that I’ve seen us in the top flight three times in my lifetime and he will eventually see the same . I probably won’t be around but he will definitely see success if only fleeting . That’s what being a Charlton fan is all about and I think he wouldn’t have it any other way . He’s said he’d hate to be a city or Arsenal fan and that makes me a proud dad .All I can do son, is apologise to you for being born an Addick but be proud of our team regardless.17

My last game before I left for a new life in Canada was a 2-1 win at Pompey to register 6 wins out of our first 9 Premier League games - we sat 2nd in the table! I left for Canuck land with the club on the verge of historic new heights.
Instead we then lost the next 6 on the trot & never reached the same heights again - it’s been mostly 19 years of misery.
Maybe we should move back !!0 -
