With very little money she has assembled a much better squad than last season. Agree with Crusty54. Last season our main issue was scoring goals, and Karen has addressed that with the signings of Ellie Brazil and Katie Bradley - and I think it's a positive that we scored three without Brazil yesterday. Clearly defending set pieces is an issue (having seen the highlights, I can't believe quite how bad the marking was for Sunderland's third yesterday), but we've shown grit and determination to come from behind to beat Durham (the only points they've dropped so far) and to get a point against Sunderland, and the substitutions that Karen has made in games have generally been spot on.
As Jobbers says, we'll need to be almost perfect this season to see off teams with bigger budgets than us. Even if we don't manage that, I think she deserves a lot of credit for the job she's done.6 -
We would have lost that game last season, this squad has something about it.As others have said, we missed Ellie and her pace but Princess gave us that when she came on in the second half.4

Crusty, from what I have researched Michelle Kang made her money from Health service IT in the USA and is in the process of being a major owner of multiple female clubs in the States, France and since December 23, London City Lionesses.
They have no attachment to Professional Men's football clubs and definitely as you stated to Millwall.

They must have splashed the cash a bit this season as they've got Asllani up front who is a Swedish International having played for Man City, PSG, Real Madrid and AC Milan before joining the Lioness - Feels almost like an Allan Simonsen type signing for Womens Championship level.Swindon_Addick said:Under the cosh a bit towards the end of the half. The 6ft striker Isobel Goodwin heads the Lioness into the lead in the 54th Minutes.
The Championship transfer record was broken again by LCL when they bought Goodwin in September from sheff utd after the 21 year old scored 18 for the blades last season.2 -

Beaten by the better side, though we gave ourselves a mountain to climb by giving it away at the back for their first. As Swindon_Addick says, we responded well, but then they scored a really good goal on the break and that was the knockout blow.
I knew LCL had invested, but I didn't know just how much and what calibre of players they'd signed. It's hard to compete against that.3 -
When you see a championship side signing a 22 year old Spanish international, Maria Perez who got injured in pre season, Jakobsson and Asslani two experienced Swedish Ints, and strong players every where including Goodwin the strong Number 9 who scores goals and is a power runner.
Michelle Kang flies in for matches and I can't see her not being successful with this squad.1 -

Not doubting you but can’t find anything anywhere about Chinese investment but lots of articles about Kang’s money funding the signings and she bought them before this summer. Would be genuinely interested to read about the Chinese investment as the Chinese government really don’t like their businesses investing in football anymore!Crusty54 said:

Interesting that the top 4 in the division at the moment are the two independents and two with only League 1 clubs behind them (albeit Birmingham probably have more like a Championship setup). I'd say Lionesses, Durham and ourselves are all currently over-achieving relative to the size of some of the other clubs.1
