MATCH THREAD : Charlton Athletic V Stockport County : Saturday 19th October 2024 : KO 15:00
So we return today and welcome Stockport County to The Valley of Dreams, in a match that I fully expect us to triumph, but at the same time expect a tough challenge from a side who sit level on points and just one place above us in 7th on goal difference, they seem to specialise in draws it seems, but that will change today as we send them back home pointless...yes.
We've clashed on 10 previous occasions, winning six, the Hatters three, and the remaining encounter resulting in a draw, Stockport came out on top at Edgeley Park when we last meet in an Emirates FA Cup second round replay in December 2022.
We will be without Conor Coventry missing due to a suspension, and will be a big loss today, Daniel Kanu is also missing with an ankle problem, while Gassan Ahadme is described as 'touch and go'.
So here we go...
Macaulay Gillesphey, Terry Taylor and Tyreece Campbell will all start today’s fixture against Stockport County, the trio come in for Lloyd Jones, who is absent with a short-term leg injury, the suspended Conor Coventry and Daniel Kanu, who sustained an ankle injury during the Addicks’ win against Birmingham City.
Meanwhile, Jamaican international Kaheim Dixon features in a league squad for the first time, along with prolific academy graduate Micah Mbick. Chuks Aneke misses out with a minor niggle.
Should the Addicks continue in the same shape used against Birmingham, the returning Gillesphey will join Kayne Ramsay, Alex Mitchell and Josh Edwards in a back four ahead of goalkeeper Will Mannion.
Taylor joins captain Greg Docherty, Karoy Anderson and Allan Campbell in midfield, behind a front two of Tyreece Campbell and Matty Godden.
Dixon and Mbick are joined on the bench by Ashley Maynard-Brewer Rarmani Edmonds-Green, Thierry Small, Luke Berry and Miles Leaburn.
Charlton: Mannion; Ramsay, Mitchell, Gillesphey, Edwards; Docherty (c), Taylor, Anderson, A.Campbell; T.Campbell, Godden
Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Edmonds-Green, Small, Berry, Leaburn, Dixon, Mbick
So a start for Taylor...
Also a debut in his first league squad, lets give a great big Valley welcome to Kaheim Dixon...looks promising apart from Chucks having a "mior niggle"...🤦♂️

It's Taylor's moment!6

Great to see Terry Taylor coming into the team, we've all seen him as a bit of an understudy to Coventry so only fair he starts with Conor absent - That bench though!!

Jones injured? Interesting both Dixon and Mbick are on the bench. Taylor finally gets his chance then.1

No Aneke either, minor niggle according to the OS. Suggests we’ll see one of Dixon or Mbick as NJ likes to sub both strikers1
-
Surprised to see Mbick on the bench - Chuks injured???0
-
a massive day for Taylor !!! Hopefully he can deliver some decent set pieces2
-
With no Chuks, no Ahadme is can understand why Miles isn't starting. Bench looks weak imo.1
-
Nick Powell starting for them….he hates Nathan jones from his time at stoke so expect him to play amazing2
-
OS says Chuks has a “minor niggle” and Jones a “short-term leg injury”.

Interesting bench ...
Leaburn, Dixon, Mbick
Plenty of experience up front ... where's Chuks? Being saved to take on Deadpool next week?0 -
Ahadme injured or taken out of the firing line for a month?4
-
Thought Leaburn would start to be honest, hope he gets a good 30 mins though irrespective1
-
Surprised Zach Mitchell hasn't even made the bench.8

NJ said we have to be v careful bringing him back from injury, it was a chest injury after allSELR_addicks said:Ahedme injured or taken out of the firing line for a month?0 -
The forwards on the bench are young and energetic, so we can play the high press throughout the game.LargeAddick said:With no Chuks, no Ahadme is can understand why Miles isn't starting. Bench looks weak imo.3 -
I like the look of Campbell and Godden up top... Tyreece did well to continue the good work that Kanu set by pressing from the front vs Birmingham, so hope he can continue that3

If back four, is Edwards or Gillesphey centre with Mitchell0

Jesus. Doesn't take long for us to be relying on kids to come off the bench & rescue a point.
So weak. Both starting 11 & bench.
Might stay on the bus. Only problem is its final destination is Belmarsh.6 -
Terry Taylor is he a new signing?2

Stay on bus and amuse the inmates when you get there 😁golfaddick said:Jesus. Doesn't take long for us to be relying on kids to come off the bench & rescue a point.
