  • REG at RWB for me (at least until we get someone better than Watson). Then would like to see Jones, Hector and Gillesphey.
  • Did he play on the left of the back 3 or in the middle?

I believe he previously played more in the middle of the 3 but we have used him mainly on the left because he is left footed and Jones has been doing well in the middle. With Jones out interesting to know who got the nod there.

    On the left. Thomas middle

Then when Watson went off, Ness played in the middle with Thomas on the right.

One thing Thomas does give is versatility, he's always the player being asked to move position, he's played at some point in every part of the back 3/5 in recent weeks.

    Potential captain next season?
  • @mendonca I couldnt agree more to this, I think hes the settling influence at the back after a shady start (shall we say - probs down to lack of footy), gives great balance with that magic left foot and since the goal saving block vs Pompey, has played out of his skin... was my MOTM last night... but that was a close thing with so many playing well vs Cheltenham.

Agreed he was my MOTM also. Some lovely cross field pings that I might even describe as Naby-like

Agree with Covered & Naby.....he looks to have a bit of pace and power about him, as well as being able to give the ball a decent whack forward. Not bad in the air either. The sort of player who might do a job in The Championship.

Add me to the list of admirers.

He has looked very good recently and as a left footed option he has made us look more balanced.

REG & Gillesphey have both been fantastic since Jones came in. Long may it continue

Plymouth outed him as they felt he is not championship standard.

He got injured and they changed from playing a back 3 to a back 4, so he had one less centre back spot to come back to. In a back 3 I think he might be championship level

He's got to at least be part of the conversation there. Though I wonder if Jones will avoid having one captain and have the role rotate and switch from game to game.

His best game in a Charlton shirt yesterday I think, looked a lot more like the player we thought we'd signed

    How were his long passes?

Agree, once he added a bit of variety other than the default swing the left leg for the long diag.

It feels a novelty to see a left-footed centre back, playing next to a left-footed left wing/back.

Thought he looked more focused and alert yesterday. He's usually got that casual way about him but he seemed more 'at it', to me anyway.

I think Nathan Jones is very much responsible for upticks in players form and confidence.

For some reason he’s pushing into midfield here, leaving Edwards with an impossible 2v1 job with Mullin & Cannon - Cannon has acres of space and eventually scores the goal

He might scored today but he was awful. The constant grabbing of their strikers was painful to watch, gave away 3 or 4 clear fouls in dangerous areas and I think he got a away with a couple more

He managed to head it backwards to their player when he was completely unchallenged and the ball took an age to come down.

An Andy Scott signing I believe.  Our January business last year before Jones bought Ramsey and Small in was poor yet again.
Still waiting for Scott to hold his hands up as he promised.

Dobson had an absolutely stinking touch here and he had so much space he was able to take another touch and then pass it. Awful defending from everyone involved

He is diabolical. Only good thing he did was score and even that was a misplaced header.

Like most of our CB's, he was signed with a plan to play a 3. There is no doubt his flaws are exacerbated in a 2, but we don't have an obvious replacement for Jones. If we're going to persist with a 4 at the back, its an area N.Jones will need to address in Jan.
