Thierry Small - signed a 4 year deal with Preston (p36)

He was properly fired up yesterday. He grew up in Solihull, but was on the books of WBA at a young age, and his uncle played for Villa, so I guess there's no love lost there for him against Birmingham!7
-
He's a good back up at this level.0
-
With his pace and power he has loads of potential if he can become consistent and improve his end product when getting forward.0
-
I think he was over hyped last season by some fans and is suffering this season because of that.
He is a young lad with lots of potential and a high ceiling. Strong and quick so has the basics. He is not however close to the finished article and needs to improve his distribution of the ball first and foremost.
I hope he stays and signs a longer contract as he will be one who moves up the leagues in his career I have no doubt.5 -
He has a far higher ceiling that’s for sure and I would love him to sign a new contract but I think that would have happened by now if it was going to.3

Pleased for him that he's been called up by the U20 England squad but I wonder how much harder it will make it to get him to sign a new deal.
His agent will certainly see it as warranting a big wage and also highlights his ability to other clubs, as if they didn't know already.
Yet he's not starting with a mid-table league one side.7 -
If he moves again, that will be his 6th club and he's only 20. Seems like a player who is poorly advised.1

But yes, he has moved around a lot already so probably won't see moving again as an issue.0 -

To be totally fair, one could argue that staying here isn't best for his career either, he's not first choice and we are rubbish. But we do know a thing or two about helping young players develop

i would change to 4-2-3-1 and have him in a more attacking role in front of Edwards.4 -

I would definitely accommodate both Edwards and Small.
Thierry lost his way a tad with the loans to Port Vale and St Mirren ( and Charlton !) but he doesn't lack confidence and the right manager will see his strength and encourage him to take on his full back and cross.
He can do it.
The youngest ever Everton player at 16 will get his career back on track, unfortunately it won't be with CAFC after this season.

I like Edwards but he struggles to get over the halfway line. Agree with SBS, we need to accommodate both.2

Easy way to accommodate both is in a back 3 with Edwards at LCB but that causes issues with the rest of the balance of the team. When Jones is fit it could mean MG doesn't have to play too0

small on the left, Campbell on the right with Dixon on the bench with either Godden or berry behind leaburn gives us a bit more creativity than we have now
i think 2 from Coventry, Taylor and doc would work as a defensive 2.
i don’t like 4-2-3-1 but i think it’s the best option at the moment1 -
I know this will sound outdated, but couldn't we just try a standard 4-4-2? Small on the left, Tyreece on the right when fit, Taylor and Coventry in the middle. Only way I can see us getting the width without going back to 3 centre backs or losing a striker.2

Feels like it's been a long time since we had a formation that suited us!0

In fact a quick check shows he's our assist leader:

Fair play, playing for England u20’s is a great achievement. I’m sure his agent will now be using that appearance to drum up a market for him in January.3
