  • I would have thought there would be more interest in this one
  • I will probably go. It is the logistics for me.
Need to get to the Valley to get a ticket and then get a Double First from Cambridge University to suss out how to travel there and back by train.
Like getting a return, you can’t specify the time of a return train if there might be extra time and penalties.

Train fares not as good as they used to be on those lines. Around £50 now rtn to Birmingham/ Bescot.

Marylebone to/from Bescot Stadium, Super-Off Peak Return £38.20, £25.40 with railcard.
Ticket gives flexibility & allows for extra time/penalties.
  • Thanks Clive. I have looked again today and can see a cheapest at £32 using trainsplit with my network card. I found the  £38.20 super advance rtn you mention at chilterm railways website but only a national  railcard (not network card) would qualify for the discount.
  • Decent number imo

That £38.20 is a bit of a bargain, for a flexible ticket. Trying to split it (to use my Network Card) it came out more expensive, while the train from Marylebone to Wallsall/Bescot is the same price as the ticket to Birmingham.
