Timothy West RIP

Actor Timothy West, one of Britain's most acclaimed and versatile actors, has died at the age of 90, his family have announced.

He was known for roles in TV series like comedy-drama Brass, sitcom Not Going Out and soaps Coronation Street and EastEnders, and had a distinguished career on stage.

A statement released by his children, external said the actor died "peacefully in his sleep" and was "with his friends and family at the end".

The actor is also survived by his wife, Fawlty Towers star Prunella Scales, to whom he was married for 61 years.

  • Ah that's a shame.

Really enjoyed their boating show, seemed to be a nice guy and him and Prunella Scales seemed to have a really sweet relationship after all those years.

    RIP.

  • RIP. Very very good actor and instantly recognisable.
  • Wonderful actor, the first thing I remember him in was Edward VII when I was a nipper. He has been in so much great stuff, but Brass was probably my favourite. RIP Timothy.

He came across as so loving to his wife on that canal programme. Heaven knows what she'll do without him. RIP.

He was superb in A Very Peculiar Practice, where he played a maniac professor, if anyone remembers that.

Really sad news, but that’s one hell of a life so very well lived. Have enjoyed seeing him with Pru on their various canal trips. A very talented family and so obviously really nice people too. Rest in Peace Tim.
