I’ve fond memories of Richard and his contributions to the ‘Charlton Mailing List’ from 25+ years ago. Always remember him down at Bristol Rovers shouting at the ‘lads’ to stop fighting. RIP Richard .. Proper Charlton1

RIP Richard. Hugely sad news.0

I feel bad now because recently I’ve been using his book to test a new height for my PC screen.
Like many however I have read it cover to cover at least once.
We should put he and Kevin Nolan’s names on the back of shirts. They’ve done far more for this club than the current players have ever done.
At least they have done us proud. RIP.7 -
My late Mother bought a copy of 'The Addicks cartoons' and sent a letter to Richard asking him to sign it, which he kindly did.
RIP Richard, and my thoughts are with your family and friends.

Sorry to hear this. He deserves a lot of credit for taking the initiative with his original book, which nobody else had done. It was the first book about Charlton for at least 30 years and easily the most ambitious, even though he fell out with publisher Breedon Books.2

I was given a copy of the cartoon book when it first came out. An amazing piece of research at a time before the internet made searching old newspapers a lot easier than it once was. RIP to a club legend.1

I met Richard in passing at fans meetings. He was very passionate about Charlton and not necessarily towing the line, as epitomised by how out spoken he was about Charltons take over of Croydon Ladies.
Rest in Peace, another stalwart lost.0 -
A truly horrible disease. It seems even more cruel for it to have taken Richard, a man whose memories so many of us have shared through his books.
Sincere condolences to his friends and family. Rest in Peace Richard.2
