It just came up on my twitter timeline, but apparently on this day last year, Ahadme scored two goals against us at home to bring Cambridge level in a 2-2 draw after we were 2 up
so for 870k, all we have to show for is 1 league goal, an own goal, 3 in the cup and 2 against us last year to deny us 3pts - Brilliant
The number of different transfer fees that have been quoted for Ahadme is amazing!

FWIW I doubt we paid anything like £870k upfront and it’s a much lower fee with significant add ons (which will likely never be realised because he and we are rubbish).
Have it on good authority that we actually only paid £35k up front for Ahadme, but £14.6m is payable upon him scoring his second league goal for the club. That's why he's dutifully avoiding putting the club into administration up to this point by not scoring in the league again but is tearing it up in the cup. The club also briefly experimented with him scoring an own goal to see if it reset the goal counter on the payment requirements but the club's contract lawyer had a look and informed the club that that strategy was 'fucking stupid'.
We were robbed of 35k then

Don’t know if I should be proud or concerned.
His stats are really interesting. For example, if he'd scored just 14 more goals, he'd be the league's top scorer.
  • I love looking for negatives to balance out a big positive result and performance….

But with Northampton at sixes and sevens and everyone getting in on the act -

Ahadme through on goal towards the end with a perfect opportunity to boost his confidence and instead of shooting cuts inside and took a wayward swipe at the ball, abysmal technique and flew miles away from goal, another example of his Sunday League level finishing ability!

Gonna be a long few years paying this guys wages !

I don't think he knew whether to shoot or cross and sort of did neither but that's a problem, he needs to be decisive

Was a shame that both he and A Campbell came on yesterday and still looked absolutely awful. Even Hylton managed to contribute.
  • That was genuinely pathetic
but it didn’t matter , hopefully he’s only a bit part going forward

He used to be indecisive but now he's not so sure.  ;)

He's had so many moments where he's showcased a genuine lack of ability. What a strange player.
  • I said to my dad when it happened that as much as i want him to succeed that underlines why unfortunately i dont think he will. Not seen anything to suggest he is anywhere near good enough to move us forward and quite the opposite.  Had we been 0-0 then we'd have been spitting feathers about such a lack of composure and competence in front of goal but it got lost in the jubilation of being 4 or 5 up whatever we were when it happened.

Needs to be more than bit part with 3.5 years left on his contract.

It does make me wonder exactly what our recruitment team saw in him to want to sign him. You can’t knock his effort but genuinely he has literally nothing but effort to his game from what I can see

Between him and Godden they have scored six goals.  Alfie, including today, has scored twelve.
A good decision by the club.......not.

I said at the beginning of the season that I reckon AM will score more goals than any two of our forwards combined. I still stand by that.

Exactly, you do not offload your best players if you have any ambition.
To my mind Jones was told what money was available and he had to make a decision.
Pleased May got a life changing salary though.

A day where we need a striker to come on and turn the game around.

Jones turns to two other strikers rather than Ahadme. What a bust of a signing.

He’s on 11 in all comps, Godden and Leaburn are on 15. So has some catching up to do 🙂

No doubt had to get it all out before Arsenal kick off in 15 minutes. :-)

Ahadme and Godden compared to Alfie was what I was talking about.

eaststandmike said May would score more than any two of our forwards combined. He’s currently 4 behind.

Still a long way to go and AM has hit form scoring three in a week

Agree but Miles is also in good form and we’re no longer playing with two out and out strikers. If Miles stays fit he’ll get a good return on his own.

Thinking Ahadme is not great is one thing. Posting about it minutes after a game in which he wasn’t even involved is another.

Jones wasn’t making full use of May looooong before the summer transfer window and when considerations of how much we might have to spend would be relevant. My own perspective is that Jones felt like May wasn’t the sort of player he wanted in the system that he originally wanted to play and was thus expendable. Dreadful decision, strikers that can score regularly are gold dust and we got rid out ours hastily.

A clip of the scout video that persuaded Jones to unload Alfie May and replace him with Gasson has been leaked.

  • Could see Gassan going on loan to a L2 club to rebuild his confidence.

If he scores a few whilst out on loan we could recoup £100k for him in the summer.

I think it’s about cutting our losses with this guy. Sadly just cannot see him coming good (headless chicken against Preston last week)
  • Seems a bonkers decision bringing this fella in, I’m all for giving people a chance to settle in at a new club, but the difference between him and Alfie is night and day, the way it’s going it feels like having Josh Parker on a four year contract.
